Awesome experience
Amsterdam – Bruges by Bike and Boat – Princesse Royal
This trip on Magnifique III was our second after an equally great trip on Magnifique II last year. The boat and bikes were great and the group of 40 people from all over the world made for awesome conversation and fun. Our guide Hester (same as last year) was truly amazing and we were fortunate to have her again. The only negative aspect was the air conditioner broke down on the second day of our August trip which made for some very uncomfortable evenings on board.

Bucket List Adventure
Amsterdam – Bruges by Bike and Boat – Princesse Royal
The entire trip was awesome from start to finish. Tour guide(Hester)and boat staff/captain were all extremely accommodating at every request. The thirty four passengers from U.S.,Canada,Scotland,Brazil,Germany,Switzerland and Portugal were all easy going and ranged in ages fro two teenage girls to people around 70.There were never any issues between the guests during meals, evening relaxing time and daily rides.The choice of paths/routes brought out the best of Belgium and Holland and high lighted the country side farms and villages as well as several larger cities. The only suggestions we have would be to try and provide a little variety of breakfast foods and keep the cabin temperature a little cooler on very hot summer days.

Dedicated guides that will make your trip
Danube River and Black Sea
The best thing about this trip were the guides. They were so nice, and they tried to accommodate all our needs. They listened and adapted when needed. And they did it all with a great demeanor. They really made sure we enjoyed!
The trip had a lot of activities. In addition to cycling 20-70 km a day, with a lot of hills, the guides took us on hikes to show us beautiful sites, and we kayaked down the Danube.
Bulgaria is apparently an unusual choice for cycling. But it clearly has a slowly growing cycling niche. It is challenging, with a lot of hills, and having to off-road at times, so don't be ashamed to opt for an e-bike (I didn't, but there were times I wished I did). But as I struggled, the guides were amazing, they supported, they slowed down to my pace, made sure I always had someone with me, and they pulled when the wind was hard! Absolutely wonderful!
The trip went off the beaten path, but the company chose nice locations, the hotels and B&Bs were always clean, and they checked with us to make sure things were ok.

Excellent trip
Danube Delights: Biking through Four Countries
This was our first experience with cycling and cruising. It could not have been any better. Everything was perfect. The travel arrangements, the hotels before and after the cruise and the cruise itself were perfect.
The Passauer Wolf hotel in Passau, Germany was in a perfect location, excellent staff, (Fredericka) and very modern and comfortable in an historic building. The transportation from Munich to Passau prior to the cruise and after the cruise was on time and professional.The cruise on Vivienne beyond our expectations. Everything was done professionally with friendliness and courtesy. The ship itself was very comfortable, our cabin was well appointed and the service was amazing (Ramona). The food was abundant and of wide variety. Every meal was a delight and delicious. The wait staff was superb and learned each of our tastes (Muhammad).
The cycling was well planned and thought out. The cycling sections were appropriate for inexperienced riders, but still interesting and enjoyable for seasoned riders. The cruise director, Leslie, was a superstar. He marked each cycling course so well the riding app was not needed. Leslie also provided informative and very useful briefings prior to each ride and each port visit that were interesting and entertaining. He also dealt with problems that arose with quiet, calm efficiency. He is a real treasure.
The tour guides in Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest were all superb.
In short. I would highly recommend this tour on Vivienne.

Dolomites to Venice Along the Old Dolomites Railway Track
Great cycling and and absolute best way to see the Dolomites. The routes are great, with a little bit of climbing and some fun downhill sections each day. I commute to work and found the riding matched my ability, leaving enough time to stop here and there, and explore the city at the end of each stage.
TIP: The routes are mostly intuitive and easy to follow, but there are some challenges and confusing areas. If you ride this tour, skip wrestling with the paper map and use a GPS. I set aside some time before each ride to plot my route using the Komoot cycling app on my phone - I found I made fewer wrong turns and had more confidence to have fun with the ride and take in the scenery.

Loved every minute
Rhine Bike Path: Mainz to Cologne
This was our first bike vacation and didn't know what to expect, we loved every minute! We chose Bike Tours Direct because they allowed us to change the itinerary to include 2 extr days in Lorch, the town that shares my husbands family name! After all this was his 60th birthday trip. We had a magically stay in Lorch, met the Mayor who gave us the town flag and put our picture on their FB page! Fun.
We never saw the team that picked up our luggage, but sure enough our bags were always waiting for us at our next stop. The entire bike trip was beatiful, historical and we can't wait to go again.

Hawaiian Cuisine Bike Tour Honolulu

Lake Constance Classic (11-nights)
We had a wonderful time! We got lost a few times due to lack of understanding the road signs(our fault) but once we got the hang of everything we were good to go! Wouldn’t hesitate booking through BikeTours again!!!

Best bike/sail trip yet!
Denmark and Sweden by Sail and Bike
We had 30 bikers, so the group was divided into two, and eventually evolved into three biking groups. Since many had downloaded the app, some people set off on their own. The e-bikes were wonderful and welcome since the winds off the coast could be strong! Although it rained on arrival day, it was sunny and 60’s every day thereafter. The biking varied- from urban streets to rural farm areas with few major inclines. Amazing traditional and contemporary architecture, climbing roses, peonies, and poppies everywhere. Danish and Swedish locals were friendly and helpful as needed.
The ship had 4 comfortable areas for people to hang out in; two inside and two outside. The sailing crew (all young women) were fabulous: friendly, helpful, and strong (!) when putting up the sails! Chef Pete was phenomenal- gourmet meals and fika daily at 4:00. The Captain was friendly and entertaining - very proud of his boat and crew, understandably.
The tour guides were friendly, fun, and incredibly helpful as bikers fell or had tire issues. In past bike/barge tours, the program guides provided more history, info, etc about each city, but we googled/translated info as needed.
I’ve been on 3 other bike/sail trips so assumed the compartments would be small; there were complaints among new tour participants expecting more room.

Wonderful experience
Danube River and Black Sea
This tour was a great way to experience NE Bulgaria and a slice of Romania. The guides were awesome and we were well cared for. It was extremely hot and they ensured we had sufficient water and breaks at all times. Deyan shared a wealth of information about the cultural and historical aspects of each area. We appreciated having e-bikes (which were in excellent condition) as it was very hilly at times. That said, the other people in our group were very fit and managed fine with standard bicycles. There was more dirt road riding than expected, however that was necessary in this part of Bulgaria/Romania. Hotels were generally decent and the best available considering the rural locations. Scenery was beautiful and there was a wealth of cultural and historical/archeological sites. The Bulgarian and Romanian people we encountered with very friendly and hospitable. Overall we were very pleased with this tour and enjoyed learning more about this part of Eastern Europe.

Gorgeous countryside - good biking
Tuscany Getaway: 4 Nights in Siena, Montalcino & Pienza
This is a very enjoyable fairly easy ride. Pienza is stunning. The country side does not seem real. The e-bikes were great and made the ride comfortable. The hotels were comfortable and welcoming. I forgot my glasses at one hotel and they were brought to me asap. Great support.

Balkans Coast & Mountains
Cycling the West Balkan Triangle
BEAUTIFUL scenery along coasts & mountains. Some challenging climbs mixed with coastal flats. Comfortable accommodations with character. Lunches were delicious & introduced us to some local foods. Alex & Igor provided excellent leadership & support while keeping us laughing with their antics! Always felt safe so could relax & enjoy the views. Would suggest stocking small, medium & large helmets and adding bells on bikes to alert pedestrians.

Great scenery, fascinating history
Medieval Heritage of Transylvania
The good:
Most of this tour was like stepping into a beautiful alternate reality where the hustle of modern life doesn't apply. We saw loads of horse drawn wagons, shephards tending to their flocks of sheep, community wells, and very little modern "progress". The food was amazing, the housing was awesome, the local tour company was more than responsive and super helpful.
This trip doesn't have bike paths. The very beginning of the ride and a good bit of the last day is on busy roads. The rest of the tour is on extremely rural roads.
Many places the water wasn't drinkable. Not a huge problem, but you do have to plan ahead (buy water). Unlike other European bike trips we've taken there weren't coffee shops/restaurants/gas stations for breaks.
We loved talking to the guest house owners and hearing their view on the history and culture of Transylvania.
If you want to get off the beaten path this is a great trip.- What was the date of your tour?

The Perfect Way to Explore DC!
Washington DC Monuments & Memorials Bike Tour
After visiting DC a few times on foot, this time I went by bike. This is truly the best way to get from monument to monument! The time you save by not walking is spent getting a small history lesson and an in depth view of each location. Our guides were wonderful and very knowledgeable! I only wish that there were more focus on the history of each stop.
The biking itself was minimal, almost entirely on bike paths, and can be done easily by beginner cyclists. There are some spots where you must cross the road and be aware of traffic, however.
Even though a lot of the monuments are currently under spring cleaning and construction, I had a great time on this adventure! We had good weather, fun guides and comfortable bikes! If you take a trip to DC, you'll have to make time for this excursion!

Continuing our Danube Journey
Prague-Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest
The route took us through four countries and four capital cities. We planned in several rest days which were well needed as the first part of the trio through Czech Republic and Austria were challenging! The route along the Danube would have been fantastic but unfortunately Storm Boris flooded the whole region, making biking the path impassable. The tour company did a good job of keeping us informed of route conditions (we were on a self-guided tour) and helping to arrange alternate transportation when biking was impossible due to heavy rain and flooding.

The Hotels were all very good and it was very easy to follow the route due to the Stickers placed on traffic sign posts, could have used an extra day in the Garmisch Partenkirchen area.
