I've gone on a number of bike/hotel tours and really loved them. Adding the river cruise exceeded my expectations. We met many new friends, enjoyed a very nice cabin for resting, and appreciated the very helpful staff. Having a daily talk meant we were very prepared, even though we selected the self-guided experience. The only "self" portion was on the route; every other step of the way, we had guidance. All of this, in addition to the exceptional route, helped make the trip so much fun. We did experience some country-specific issues that required rerouting for biking days 2 and 3, but the cruise director acted very quickly, and we made lemonade out of lemons. I would be happy to do this kind of trip again.
If you're trying to decide between a bike/boat trip and bike/hotel trip, the major difference is that you do not have all day to complete your ride. You are on the riverboat schedule, which can make for odd timing and shortened riding days. If your primary goal is biking, then I would recommend a bike/hotel trip instead. The other downside is that you are rarely in a port during the evening. Walking around Budapest at night was a BIG highlight! On a bike/hotel tour, you can do that every night.
Lastly, I was very happy with the biketours.com experience. Everything was handled very professionally. I would book through them again, especially if I were traveling to a country where I didn't know the language. Using the site was instrumental in my finding this amazing tour, and I look forward to looking for another tour again soon!

We loved every minute of our trip. We got lost a few times, but realised that in Austria the sign posting wasn't as reliable than it was in Germany and Switzerland.

Experiencing the beautiful Greek Islands by boat and bike with a fabulous group of people on a wonderful boat with food that was delicious - what a trip! Words I'd use to express the crew include loving, caring, fun, always giving their best, working around the clock, AMAZING. The chef and food were extraordinary, every meal was a delight. The Captain carefully arranged destinations to offer us the best possible experiences. The guides were safety conscious and just fabulous. We were cared for in a way that is hard to describe. I would happily travel with this group and specifically with these people anytime, anywhere.

Gorgeous scenery and a very authentic experience

If you are looking for beauty and authenticity, this trip is for you. Our group of 16 had a wonderful time biking through rolling hills overlooking sweeping vistas of wild flowers, vineyards, olive and cork oak groves. The whitewashed and marble hill towns with their castle walls and ruins were charming and authentic. The food was local and delicious and the wines were excellent. But best of all were our guides, Mario, Videl, and Joana, who were fun, informative, well organized, and always enthusiastic. A good example is a rainy day in Monsaraz where we spent the morning walking around the castle and village, ate lunch, then half of the group rode in the van to a nearby pottery village while the others walked to a nearby convent and megalith, then we swapped and when the sun came out around 4:00 any who wanted took a two hour ride in the rolling hills surrounding the castle. Our guides worked it all out over lunch!

Beautiful spring Portugal journey

This trip exceeded my expectations. The three guides (Fidel, Mario, Johanna) were all wonderful, kind and patient with our entire group. Constantly trying to make the trip a pleasurable experience. The hotels were all good, and generally exceeded expectations. The food was also outstanding. High quality, more than enough (no limits) and lots of drink/wine options. Beautiful tour overall, highly recommend.

· Sarajevo City & War Bike Tour
We had a super bike tour through Sarajevo, the young guide (only 19 years old) led us through the old and new town, he knew a lot of things about the history and was eiger to tell us about it. First we went to the old town, olympic village and the tunnel of hope (must see)
it is a nice long drive on the bike but he took the time, for us the best way to experience a town.
We will visit Sarajevo again and do another bike tour. We recommend Biketours to anyone who wants to discover Sarajevo. -

Springtime in Belgium and the Netherlands is a perfect time to ride through the countryside. Flowers and trees are a blooming! Our tour guides were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Customer service all around from tour guides to boat staff were top notch. We did not lack for anything. The bikes were comfortable. We rented an ebike and it was super easy to use. There were a few times I forgot to turn it on. They’re not a heavy bike, so easy to forget with such flat terrain.

A huge thanks for a fabulous trip! Pieter patiently spent over an hour at the start of the trip explaining the finer details of the bike’s operation and security guidelines and the ride with gps app was the perfect way to provide autonomy without having the hassle of working out your own route. The route was interesting and varied with each night spent in a charming town oozing character but away from the main tourist traps. The luggage transfer was perfectly executed and Pieter checked in regularly to make sure everything was okay. Bravo and merci! Highly recommend and would happily do another trip!
