HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Christian was a fantastic tour guide-- kind, knowledgeable, fun, gracious, adventurous and so delightful. We were a bit skeptical about how much our 4 boys (ages 9, 13, 15 and 17) would like yet another Paris tour (after a bus tour, boat tour and exploring on foot for hours), but our 4-hour bike tour was an absolute blast. We got to see all of the major historical sights and tourist attractions-- except Christian gave us much more context and fun information. He also took us to some beautiful hidden spots that really captured the essence of Parisian life for locals and some beauty we'd have never found ourselves with a big group. Wish we'd had another day to do a tour to Versailles with biketours.com and Christian.

This trip was such a great experience, especially with the availability of e-bikes, I would recommend it for just about anyone. The food aboard exceeded my expectations every day. It was self-guided, and the provided daily briefings and maps were completely sufficient for us to find our way. We did it with an age range of 9 years to 73 years, and everyone was successful. Bikes are not high-end, but they worked. We had some trouble with seat and handlebar adjustments for the shorter members of our group, but it all worked out in the end. The crew of the Patria was exceptional. They were professional, helpful, and provided excellent service throughout. It was particularly nice that passengers were allowed to stay aboard during the day if they needed a rest day or didn't want to deal with biking on a day of solid rain. Terrific first-time bike tour experience.

This trip exceeded all my expectations. The "Barge" was quaint (but professional), the rooms were VERY clean and comfortable with good shower. Dining area was nice and best feature was sitting deck where we all gathered after a day of biking and enjoyed a "beverage". The Crew was fantastic. Always with a genuine smile and seemed to enjoy their work almost as much as we did. The chef did an amazing job with great food and really neat presentation added to the charm. With a small "boat" we got to know all the other passengers and by the end of the week we were friends. Such a great time. Oh and by the way, the actual bike riding was good also. We saw and experienced a Netherlands and Belgium that only a trip like this could offer. Daily rides were easy enough for any cyclist and our guide could not have been more concerned that we were enjoying ourselves. He became part of our "Group" and a friend.

Everything I expected and more!

I hate to write reviews but this one deserved a moment of my time. A great trip, a beautiful barge, a unique way to see this part of the world. I can truly say this was a trip I will remember for years to come.

We all had a great time despite most of us getting mild cases of COVID. Our local tour guides were excellent and always happy to help us with whatever we needed. Of course Croatia's Dalmatia Coast is absolutely beautiful. The additional outings (wine, chocolate, olive oil tastings) were all very well planned and enjoyable.

· · Danube Delights: Cycling and Cruising in the Footsteps of Royalty
Great trip in every way. Weather a bit dicy on day one but we cycled nevertheless. All other days had post card perfect weather. Scenery fantastic, food on board met every expectations, boat staff very accommodating, bikes a bit aged but nothing serious, wifi on board could be improved. Met very nice, friendly, and interesting people - we were 2 of the 6 Americans on board. This was our 6th bike trip with BikeTours (first boat and bike). Original boat was MS Carissiama, but upgraded to Swiss Crown. beautiful "long boat"! Already contemplating the next trip for next year -- maybe Majorca, Spain in the spring...

Wonderful trip

Great boat staff and excellent dinners, wonderful scenery, excellent on board guide. Overall a great trip. I would highly recommend this trip if you want to see beautiful German villages, wine country, biking along a lovely river and learning German history.

Beautiful area and bike infrastructure

Fun for experienced riders but also easy for novices to learn the fun of bike touring in such a lovely and historically interesting area. Flat and easy to ride, only a bit of wind & rain sometimes, with great bike lanes everywhere, plus little to carry as the hotel followed us around by water! Only drawback was we would have liked to have dinner in towns and meet locals on some nights, since restaurants were often within steps of the boat, rather than be locked into nightly three-course meals on board as if isolated on the high seas...

· · Northern Bavaria: Bike and Boat the Main River
The guided rides along the Main River kept my interest as we passed through the small villages between Nuremberg and Wurzburg. There was even an Old Town Beer Festival and parade in Nuremberg at the start of the tour. Staying on board the Merlijn made the trip so easy--the captain and crew kept everyone happy. And Tomas, our guide knew the best bakeries to stop at for morning snacks each day. The route was mostly on protected cycle paths along the river. And the weather was breezy and sunny all week. A perfect biking week.

The trip exceeded our expectations

The Magnifique II is a very comfortable boat with an excellent crew. Our bike tour guide was very attentive to everyone's needs. We were awed by the historic centers in Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges and the beauty of the countryside. The dedicated bike highways all over the Netherlands and Belgium made cycling there safe and easy.
The trip could have been improved by dividing into 2 groups as we were stronger cyclists and would have liked to go faster with fewer stops. We understand that is the plan for 2018- What was the date of your tour?

Magnifique II bike trip

The staff and barge accommodations were excellent. Our chef prepared gourmet meals every night that were delicious. The bikes were very comfortable and easy to ride. It was a great way to see the countryside. We went from Amsterdam to Bruges and had a head wind most of the way. I might do the reverse trip if I had known. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Couldn't have asked for a better trip!

The routes were beautiful with little traffic and the towns we stayed in were interesting and historic. The boat was clean with a lovely dining and socializing area. The cabins were very tiny with just one small porthole window which was challenging. The dinners were very good and the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. A positive experience! The only complaint we had is that the cue sheets were nearly useless. Luckily we had a person to guide us so using them was not necessary.

I loved seeing Belgium and Netherlands by the calm pace of the bike and barge. It was exciting to see and experience the cities, small towns and villages, countryside, canals, forests, and farms & communities where people lived. The barge was comfortable, staff was great and the food on the barge was fabulous. I would definitely consider another trip by bike and barge.

Trip of my dreams

The perfect way to get away and see the beautiful countryside of The Netherlands and Belgium. The riding was about 30 miles per day, on completely flat terrain and at a leisurely pace. The tour guide and barge staff were friendly and accommodating. The barge was really nice. The food was excellent.

Beautiful surprises every day!

We enjoyed everything about this tour! We’ve We have participated in afew bike trips now and this was the best so far. The beautiful scenery of Belgium and the Netherlands was like a painting. The towns we rode through were so pretty- it was rose and hydrangea season! Always a good beer or rose plus some kind of sweet specialty on offer! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and took time to get to know all of us. The Zwaantse barge was great- the captain and crew friendly and professional, the cook prepared excellent meals everyday! Couldn’t ask for a better week of riding!

· · Bruges to Paris by Bike and Boat (and reverse)
This was our first bike and Barge trip. We enjoyed all aspects of the journey from Perrone to Bruges except for the rain the last day of biking. The crew was excellent!e was an excellent cook and provided a variety of excellent meals. The captain Marius took good care of us as did Henk the first mate. Our guide Sietse was excellent. He enjoys history and was able to tell us many things about the history of the countries we traveled through.
The Feniks can accommodate 14 guests but during this trip there were only seven guests. This allowed us to make good friends and be able to stay together while we were biking. It would have been crowded if there had been 14 guests on board.
