Enjoyed the trip. We enjoyed the scenery. We enjoyed the barge. The floors of the barge are stunning. All the personnel were wonderful and I appreciated there pitch-in attitude. My only suggestion in regarding the biking, is that because E bikes now allow folks who are not bikers on these trips, that the groups always be divided into two. That first day when we had such a large group going through busy Ghent was uncomfortable. Those at the front asked to wait at corners, waited over 15 minutes isolated and it was not clear if we were going to have the Support to find the boat. I suggest also a discussion about not letting big gaps form within the same group, so those being supportive at the corners are not waiting. ( I’m not suggesting that they ride right behind someone, just not perhaps multiple hundred yard gaps. Really loved the tour.

This slow way of travelling is perfect for savouring Provence on all levels…
Captain Willy and crew were extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. Our bike tour guide Michela was very safety conscious as well as informative and inclusive, all done with her Italian humour! The schedule was packed but never rushed. It helped that our group was cohesive and respectful of each other…and punctual! The food was excellent and our bow berth beyond expectations.

This trip was so fun! Meeting new people, being active during the day, and eating three meals together was like being in an adult summer camp. The staff was incredibly responsive to our needs - from the guide, to the captain and crew, and chef on board. The meals were incredible - and some of the best food I have ever had. It was a great way to be introduced to biking - amazing!

We went on the bike-boat tour in mid-October towards the end of the boat's sailing season. The weather had been rainy the week before, but the towns and castles on the route were captivating when the sky cleared up. The bike paths in Germany and Luxembourg were wide and easy to navigate with the help of our guides. We enjoyed learning of the interesting history of castles and the Roman introduction of wine growing in the Moselle region. Some of the towns had more tourists than I expected for the time of the year, but the number of tourists subsided in the evenings.
We had a good number of café stops on the bike for rest breaks and rehydration. The delicious meals on board were artfully and expertly prepared by the resident chef and served by a friendly and helpful crew.
Our room was small with 2 single beds on opposite sides of the room and had a small attached bathroom with a shower. We didn't mind the small size much since much of the day was spent on the bike. The beds were comfortable, and the room was made every day by the crew.
We visited many castles, as there seems to be at least 1 for each city we visited. One excursion that we paid extra for was a Wine Experience tour in Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. The tour described the different wines in the Moselle region and provided tasting samples of varieties. The tour included fun novelties such as the mirror room and the social media ready Wine Queen prop.
We enjoyed meeting and riding with the 28 other guests on the boat. Many were experienced bike tourists, and all had a good time sharing their experiences.- What was the date of your tour?

The Iris barge was the best, the rooms were perfect. The crew were like friends on the first day.

I can't fully speak for the cycling part of this tour - though have personally biked all over Holland many times - but was on this ship for a private dinner event earlier this fall. It's truly a stunning boat (they recently expanded and refurbished it) and I'm 100% certain it will provide for an amazing holiday experience in and around an area that is also UNESCO World Heritage site.

Fantastic tour!

My best trip in 20 years! This is not to detract from past trips but this Greece tour was well executed. The staff (8) made each of our 17 participants (all friends) feel individually special.
The meals were excellent with variety and abundance - lots of Greek style dishes, diversity of fish, beef, lamb, ham, fruits, vegetables, etc.
The guides - Chrysa and Marylou- kept the group informed, gave excellent bike tours, and adjusted the itinerary when needed. What a comedy team! They work so well together and we had so many laughs! The swimming at various beaches and off the boat was a highlight. The boat was beautiful, spacious for the group and comfortable. We thought the rooms were adequately sized as compared to other tours we’ve been on. Climate control was good in the rooms although the cool nights made sleeping easy. There was some mild diesel smell in some of the rooms but opening the portholes and running the room fans took care of that odor - which mostly resulted from wind direction or docking . The bad mattresses were firm but in excellent condition. The bikes were in excellent shape and got all of us up the hills without depleting the batteries. The service crew always made sure the rooms were daily cleaned and any of our needs were met. They were outstanding! The scenery was just so beautiful! If you like boats, great food, excellent staff, exercise and good views, don’t pass up on this excellent trip!- What was the date of your tour?

I took this trip a year ago in the end of October and it was a perfect match of the weather and scenery. The cycling route is brilliantly planned, very safe and full of breathtaking nature, this mix gives you a feeling of being reunited with nature.

Early April in the Netherlands is beautiful and unpredictable. Our tour group navigated our day to day travel perfectly. They adjusted to the riders, weather, and many other factors with grace and positive attitudes. I think the tours themselves attract positive people who are flexible and willing to adjust, because this group of strangers from all over Europe and the US got along like a group of old friends. At the end of the day we enjoys 3 to 4 course amazing meals and shared stories from home. The tulips, windmills, gardens, and towns were great to see, but it was the people that made this tour so amazing. A huge thanks to everyone that worked the Magnifique II during my tour.

The biking was outstanding. The bike paths in the cities were crowded with some aggressive riders. I’n most places motor scooters are allowed on the bike paths. Bring a side/rear view mirror. Although not luxurious, the ship was clean and comfortable. The crew was friendly and helpful, especially the three biking guides. The breakfast buffet was plentiful but it was not set up efficiently so the lines were long. We asked for a carafe of hot water to be placed on our table at breakfast because there were 5 tea drinkers at our table. We were told this was not possible but there were carafes of hot water when tea and coffee was served in the afternoon. When the cookies and cakes in the afternoon were eaten, they were not replaced even though there was often another hour left to this snack time. We did not care for the dinners but most people at our table did like the dinners.

Dutch Delight

Amazing tour and incredible way to discover this amazing country. Our guides Bart and Andreas were excellent hosts and did a great job making sure everything went smoothly. The De Amsterdam boat was clean, crew was excellent and meals were very good. The bikes all seemed quite new and functioned very well. The daily routines were well organized for scenic rides with perfect amount of time and distance to enjoy many stops along the way. I would easily recommend this tour to anyone looking for a relaxing week of sightseeing and moderate cycling. Looking forward to more adventures in the future with bikeboat tours!

The islands are a must see if traveling to Croatia. This tour made it so easy to enjoy. The guides were excellent. They were patient, answered questions thoroughly, did a good job trouble shooting, giving us anticipatory guidance and let us go at the pace that was comfortable to us. We were able to stop frequently for photos. We've never done a guided tour before and planned to DIY on the islands. It would have been much more difficult trying to coordinate catching the few ferries that take bikes if we did it on our own. It was great to not worry about navigation, accommodations, etc. We just pedaled, ate, enjoyed and repeated. Only 3 of us used regular bikes. The other 20+ riders used e-bikes and had varying experience cycling

I've gone on a number of bike/hotel tours and really loved them. Adding the river cruise exceeded my expectations. We met many new friends, enjoyed a very nice cabin for resting, and appreciated the very helpful staff. Having a daily talk meant we were very prepared, even though we selected the self-guided experience. The only "self" portion was on the route; every other step of the way, we had guidance. All of this, in addition to the exceptional route, helped make the trip so much fun. We did experience some country-specific issues that required rerouting for biking days 2 and 3, but the cruise director acted very quickly, and we made lemonade out of lemons. I would be happy to do this kind of trip again.
If you're trying to decide between a bike/boat trip and bike/hotel trip, the major difference is that you do not have all day to complete your ride. You are on the riverboat schedule, which can make for odd timing and shortened riding days. If your primary goal is biking, then I would recommend a bike/hotel trip instead. The other downside is that you are rarely in a port during the evening. Walking around Budapest at night was a BIG highlight! On a bike/hotel tour, you can do that every night.
Lastly, I was very happy with the biketours.com experience. Everything was handled very professionally. I would book through them again, especially if I were traveling to a country where I didn't know the language. Using the site was instrumental in my finding this amazing tour, and I look forward to looking for another tour again soon!

One of the best vacations of my life

Experiencing the beautiful Greek Islands by boat and bike with a fabulous group of people on a wonderful boat with food that was delicious - what a trip! Words I'd use to express the crew include loving, caring, fun, always giving their best, working around the clock, AMAZING. The chef and food were extraordinary, every meal was a delight. The Captain carefully arranged destinations to offer us the best possible experiences. The guides were safety conscious and just fabulous. We were cared for in a way that is hard to describe. I would happily travel with this group and specifically with these people anytime, anywhere.
