Maybe our 6th trip with biketours…
Aegean Discovery: Cycling through Eastern Crete
…and it continued to exceed expectations: attentive trip planning with Mariam Thrazashvili - something like 37 e-mails to pick best week for weather in Crete, nail down extra days, detour to Matala, etc. That’s a lot for a 25 euro booking fee! Local outfitter ARCAS had excellent support, well-chosen hotels (best: Pepi Boutique Hotel in Rethymno, and the one in Toufoulofari). Had a couple flat tires on the e-bikes (take note: some tough climbs; we’re casual bikers, e-bikes change your whole attitude about hills - but the subsequent downhills are glorious!) and the gears were a bit wonky but I managed. The GPS turn-by-turn routing was idiot proof - there was one stretch where the route was misregistered so it was 20-30 meters away from true position, but I gave ARCAS feedback and they have corrected it. (Could not print out the 36 pages of trip notes - and neither could the local rep of ARCAS - broke his printer - file size too big.). The views are spectacular! Highly recommend!

Lisbon Food Tasting E-Bike Tour
This was a great tour! Our guide Matilda was very accomodating & fun & knowledgable about the history of Portugal. We saw the waterfront & the old town with narrow winding streets and the city center. The bikes were powerful. A great way to spend the morning!

Danube Bike Path 8 Nights (Upscale Lodging)
We had a fantastic bike ride along the Danube in September this year, taking the upscale lodging option. Very pleased with all our accommodation. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. As we aren't regular bike riders we chose the E-bikes and had no problems at all. The weather was perfect the whole way - average 25 degree days.
Would recommend this ride as very scenic and lots to do on the way.
Would also recommend Google maps.

Riding Lake Garda

It was a great trip and the hotel and local setting were wonderful.
Our experience in getting assistance from the local partner, however, was not satisfactory. We had to contact them a couple times about bike needs and malfunctions. The "hotline" is merely place that tell you who else to call. Their communication to resolve issues was horrible.There should be more detail about some aspects for the ride. One thing is the availability of public toilet facilities. On at least one ride, there were none.
Also, the route info was often a problem. It was at time not accurate. You should sonderusing using Rides with GPS, which was a better option.

The Istrian Peninsula by Electric Bike
tt was a great trip. The boat was gorgeous and very comfortable. All the staff on the boat were great and the food was really good. The bike guides were also very good.
Would suggest that the description you have of this ride be updated. You not only 30% gravel and it was at least 50%. The guides knew the routes very well and did everything to minimize traffic which was great.
Also Mariam - who helped deal with hotels before and after the tour was fabulous. She was very very helpful and extremely responsive to questions.
The issue of helmets needs to be clarified. We understood they were required, which is great. However there was a person who asked if it was required and he did not want to wear one and was not required to do so. Think this is a big mistake. Helmets should be required by all on the ride - even if local laws don't require it. Still should be required for the tour.
Overall it was a fabulous trip.

Tallinn Bike Tour with Market Visit & Food Tasting
This was a highlight of our trip. We loved learning the history of the city while biking around. The guide (I think his name was Roland?) was excellent and the food was incredible. I knew very little about Estonia but I now have a ton of respect for the country.

Self guided bike trip in Umbria

This was the perfect self guided bike trip. The roads were quiet or on dedicated bike trails. The directions on GPS were easy to follow. The hill towns were magnificent. We chose the hotel upgrade and were very happy with the accommodations. It is in fact true that one can't find a bad meal in Umbria

Just right
National Parks of Dalmatia by Bike/E-bike and Boat
In the past we have done some European bike trips on our own, this was our first experience with a guided group tour. We were concerned about the level of difficultly (was it a 2? or perhaps a 3 or 4?). We are older (78 and 87), not veteran bikers but fairly active. We chose to rent e-bikes which was perfect for us....no problem at all going up hills, staying with the others and maneuvering through the occasional traffic as we left a town.
Thanks to the expertise of the excellent guides we all stayed safe, blended together well in spite of our different levels of cycling abilities, various nationalities and ages.
We had a wonderful trip, more "social" than our personal trips, but lively, informative, stimulating and enriching in all ways.
With e-bikes it was definitely a level 2, though for those on regular bikes I imagine it would be a level 3 or 3+.
It was luxurious to be on such a high quality boat, very comfortable, good food and an excellent staff.- What was the date of your tour?

Cycling around Bruges
Bruges City Bike Tour
Joost was our tour guide. He's local and speaks English very well. Joost used stories to tell us about the history of Bruges. The ride is on cobblestone, but the bicycle seats are very comfortable so I did not notice any discomfort. We traveled about 7 or 8 km. It was an easy ride with many stops. We never felt rushed and was free to ask any questions. We had time to take photos at each stop. A very nice tour.

Fantasic experince!!!
Danube Bike Path 7 Nights (Classic)
We enjoyed our trip from Passau to Austria. The local tour operator, Pedalo, did a great job interfacing with the hotels, moving our luggage and taking care of any issues with our bikes. Gave us everything we needed to succeed!
A few notes:
a) Be aware that the first two days are among the longer legs of the trip, so be prepared to leave early those days
b) The route goes on both sides of the Danube pretty much continuously, with a few diversions onto local roads from separated bike paths. You do not have to follow the recommended route if you want to check out something on the other side or save a few Euros from the bike ferries, but the planned route is a good one to follow. If you just follow the R1 / Danauweg signs toward the right towns you will be fine.
c) The hotels vary widely in quality and level of staffing. Check them out yourself during the booking process.We used regular bikes - if you choose e-bikes be sure you understand the range capabilities and where you can charge your bikes in the middle of the day if needed.
