This trip exceeded my expectations. The three guides (Fidel, Mario, Johanna) were all wonderful, kind and patient with our entire group. Constantly trying to make the trip a pleasurable experience. The hotels were all good, and generally exceeded expectations. The food was also outstanding. High quality, more than enough (no limits) and lots of drink/wine options. Beautiful tour overall, highly recommend.

The bikes were ready when we arrived, and in great condition. The RoadBook App made finding our way easier than paper maps, although we did miss a few turns. The app did need cell service and ate through the battery fast enough that we needed a power bank. The navigation feature thought we were a car, which led to some odd instructions until we realized what was happening and then ignored it.
The Chateaus are lovely and easy to visit. We did the trip in late April and enjoyed the sound of birds and frogs as we cycled. The daily distances allow for sufficient time to take in the sights as well as some leisure at the end of the day. Most of it is done on either bike trails or very low traffic roads, although there a few narrow and moderate traffic roads that are less pleasant.
We used electric bikes and were happy to have chosen them. Although there are very few hills, we were glad of the boost.
Hotels were excellent and generally easy to find in the towns. without too much city traffic. We chose the meal plan, and received no information on how that worked. The second restaurant explained how in worked in their case and that each restaurant would be different. It would have been helpful to know in advance.- What was the date of your tour?

A huge thanks for a fabulous trip! Pieter patiently spent over an hour at the start of the trip explaining the finer details of the bike’s operation and security guidelines and the ride with gps app was the perfect way to provide autonomy without having the hassle of working out your own route. The route was interesting and varied with each night spent in a charming town oozing character but away from the main tourist traps. The luggage transfer was perfectly executed and Pieter checked in regularly to make sure everything was okay. Bravo and merci! Highly recommend and would happily do another trip!

Exceeded my very high expectations

I went in thinking the trip would be fun, a little educational, with good food, an appropriate physical challenge and beautiful vistas.
The week was all of that and so much more. Our guides were terrific - not just knowledgeable and helpful but delightfully interactive and fun. They provided personal, deep insight into the region and a fantastic connection to the locale. The food was amazing. I mean truly amazing - both the restaurants and the lunches. · Lake Constance Bicycle Path
This was a fantastic experience for both myself and my fiancé to explore the Swiss and German countryside. The tour maps laid out everything very clearly and we enjoyed biking through beautiful small villages. We would take every opportunity to stop along the biking trail at local historic sites and castles that were all suggested in our tour guide booklet. Each hotel we stayed at was top notch with very comfortable amenities and free breakfast included in the morning (which was great before biking 30-40miles). Overall we were super pleased with our decision to go on this trip. It was so well organized and it took out all the stress of having to plan out all the small details so that we could just enjoy biking and having fun.

· Cycling the West Balkan Triangle
This was a great trip. We've previously done all tours DIY. I enjoyed not having to think about navigation, most of the meals, etc. Our guide was very knowledgeable. I enjoyed stopping for sites of historical significance, a winery, an olive farm, an others. I liked that we had a variety of scenery including the coast, mountains, along lakes. Some of it felt wonderfully remote.
I consider myself a moderate rider (50-70 miles per week, elevation gain 3000-4000 ft per week) and did it on a non-ebike. Some parts pushed me but not to the extreme. We had a inexperienced rider who completed it on an e-bike with some effort, the rest of the group were experienced and did it on e-bikes without problems
I would say that a small portion of it was on a busy road. If you are not experienced with sharing the road during those times it might be intimidating but I felt comfortable. You have the option of sitting out ANY portion you are not comfortable with.
Breaks are frequent, at least 2 per day, usually 3 per day so it is manageable. Our guide did a good job of letting us go at our own pace which varied significantly. The SAG person was great about attending to any concerns about water, snacks, etc. needed along the way.
All of the lodging was comfortable and clean but not necessarily luxurious if that is important to you. Some of the lodging was 1-2 km from sites of interest in the evening (say old town) but it was walkable. Also, there were always options very close for evening dining if chose to stay close.
I have no regrets, was a good experience and would recommend it.- Countries included in this tour?

Wonderful to start in Tirana, then see the rural part of Albania and finish on the coast. I enjoyed the stays at the organic farm and the guest house especially.
The local historical tours done at some of our stays were good for hitting the highlights of their significance. They were neither too long or too short.
The guides were fantastic. They did a nice job of allowing everyone to go at a pace that was comfortable for them. They were very patient about answering questions about Albania's history, current challenges and daily life.
The accommodations were always clean and comfortable. Some were very nice, others more humble but were always clean and functional.
The food was plentiful! They really focused on trying to serve traditional Albanian dishes particular to that region. Two nights we were free to eat at local restaurants so those who wanted to get a pizza or non-Albanian food could do so then.
I feel the level of difficulty was accurately described. Unless you are an experienced cyclist you would not want to do this without an e-bike. There were several people who did not ride much and did just fine on e-bikes. For those on regular bikes (non e-bikes) it was a manageable ride. There was always a break in the morning for coffee, then again for lunch and then finishing the ride. This really helped make the rides manageable.
I consider myself a moderate rider typically doing 50 miles per week with about 3000-4000 elevation gain total. So this tour was a moderate challenge but very doable.
My wife and I had previously done only DIY trips and this was our first supported, guided experience. It was nice to not worry about navigation, where to stay or where to eat. All in all, it was a wonderful trip that I would recommend highly.- What was the date of your tour?

Perfectly curated

We were self guided and had changed the itinerary by adding a few rest days along the way. As we were not part of a group we were initially worried that me might get forgotten (and bags not forwarded etc) but every detail was taken care of and the support was completely reliable and comprehensive. This allowed us to just enjoy the trip. Albania was an absolute delight in every way; scenery, people, culture and the route was perfectly curated to show the best of all of this.

Overall this was an excellent bike tour. The routing past beautiful lakes, small villages, delightful farms, and overnight stays in great locations made it highly enjoyable. The issues that I would note for possible improvements are:
1. The E Bike + Hike naviagation App was good but certainly not great. Not nearly as capable or helpful as the "Ride with GPS" App we have used on another BikeTours.com trip in Europe. The App provided was not programmed to navigate us to, or from, the hotels which had been booked for us, so one had to resort to using another navigation App like Google Maps for the finish and start to each day's ride. The App recommended didn't show at the start of each day's ride, the total distance to be covered, nor during the ride the distance travelled, nor the distance to go. The Ride with GPS App we had previously used was also programmed to give advice about scenic highlights as we got to them, and verbal as well as written descriptions of options to look at along the route.
2. The "Your Trip Itineary booklet provided with information and maps about each day's ride was unnecessarily complex and at times confusing, and the step by step instructions would be almost impossible to follow while riding, from just using the book. This booklet was claimed to be personalised for our trip but it contained a lot of irrelevant and unnecessary information relating to other riding options and accommodation other than the places which had been booked for us.
3. An overall map of the whole trip with reasonable scale (the one provided was too small) would have been useful. We eventually found a map independantly "Salzkammergut Radkarte" which was much better than the maps provided in our folder, which showed the overall route very well. I would recommend that this map be included in future folders.
4. About 10% of the route specified was on very busy roads. Options to avoid these (if at all possible) would have been welcomed, and obviously in the future as more dedicated bike tracks are developed, these would greatly improve the overall enjoyment of this tour.- Countries included in this tour?

Great trip through Southern Albania

I thoroughly enjoyed the UNESCO Sites of Albania cycling tour. Our guide Andrea was awesome! He was very eager to share his knowledge of Albania, its culture and history. He was also very friendly, helpful and supportive of tour participants. The hotels and restaurants were all good, food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the two nights that we spent at local guest houses up in the mountains: family run and very friendly, with amazing local fresh food. The bicycles they provided were in good condition. The sag van driver and mechanic Rimi was great. He promptly and skillfully addressed any mechanical issues with the bicycles and was very supportive of any riders who needed to ride some sections in the van.
My only criticism of the tour is that communication prior to the trip was minimal. Also, though not my personal experience, some of the other participants had been given misleading information about the difficulty of the trip from TO's administrative staff prior to the trip.
