One of the best vacations I have ever taken
· Bolzano – Verona – Venice
We did the self-guided, and loved it, the maps were fantastic, only got a little lost a few times, someone has done a lot of work on getting the logistics of this week nailed down very well, including luggage being moved. Great way to see parts of Italy no one else sees. Some of the hotels were AMAZING, a couple were a little run-down and needed to be crossed off the list, got locked out of one and ended up having to get another hotel (at our own expense, and without all of our luggage as it was in the original) that night because the front desk clerk went home at 10 pm (this was also one of the run-down places). Breakfasts were perfect at all locations. Route was gorgeous, Italy is absolutely beautiful. Overall, this was great and we are already talking about our next one.

Incredible trip!

This route exceeded our expectations! Each day had so much to see and experience. We so much enjoyed these smaller Italian cities with amazing vibes and hardly any crowds. And the ability to ride up and down the streets and take it in on a bike was a real gift. We were able to see so much more than on foot and go to places we never would’ve seen on a train or taxi. We loved this tour so much! So much architecture, so much history! I especially loved the transition from mountains to Mediterranean. The bikes we got on this trip had less comfortable seats than our last bike tour. Wish we brought our padded shorts! Also, highly recommend the e-bikes. Made the trip so enjoyable. Might have had some difficulty on regular bike. Do-able but quite tiring for a casual cyclist.

Self-guided Northern Italy

Great ride, E Bikes, 3 adults in their 70's and 80's.
We had a wonderful self-guided ride about 220 miles on mostly- paved wide bike paths using the GPS tracks which we had previously downloaded and riding on our Girolibero bikes (which were in perfect shape). The travel guide emailed to us by Bike Tours was excellent, giving cultural information as well as the daily mileage requirement and tips on how to shorten our day using the local trains which we never found to be desired or necessary. The guide also included all the necessary vouchers for our hotels, ferry ride and free ice cream as well as travel info on getting to Bolzano. The ride itself was spectacularly beautiful, especially starting near the Dolomites and following the River Adige with mountains on the other side all the way down to Lake Garda.
There was a detour programmed into our GPS tracks and also a surprise one which was not. We navigated that short detour pretty well for not speaking Italian thanks to the very helpful/understandable signage. We had selected three star hotels which we might change to four star for our next ride. The first three days the hotels and the breakfasts were top notch but after that got progressively more like 2 star hotels ending in Venice/Mestre where we were escorted to a refurbished garage behind the main hotel, not what we had hoped for on our last and only night in Italy. In terms of the bike route itself we found the 4 hour ferry ride on Lake Garda unfortunate as there is a bike path around the lake which we would have preferred. The ferry ride was totally fogged in so we could not enjoy the beautiful sights and there was no food or drink available on board -a long 4 hours to think about a glass of wine. On the whole, we loved the trip and would do it again- the mountains, the exercise, the cuisine, the history, the people. Getting to Bolzano when our flights landed in Venice was our biggest problem - we had trouble trying to decipher the train system. But then the Bolzano funicula ride and the adventure on the ridge line overlooking the city and the Dolomites in the distance made up for getting bogged down catching trains. This was such a wonderful trip when my husband and I experienced it the first time for our thirtieth wedding anniversary, we took it again, in the opposite direction, two years later!
The small towns we traveled through were charming and welcoming. We saw places that were unique and off-the-beaten path of the general tourist. Chioggia, Ferrara, Zelo: they each kept beckoning us back.
Then, too, the Vita Pugna was any thing but "hard life". The staff treated us like treasured family members. The fed us local cuisine that was fresh, creative, and oh, so satisfying. They were enthusiastic and welcoming every day of the journey. Our bicycling guides, on each trip, revealed history, culture, and sites, that only the well-informed local would usually enjoy.My husband and I have traveled on five bike trips with biketours.com, and we have plans of cycling again to an, as yet, undiscovered destination. The company makes our travel dreams affordable, successful, and worth repeating.

Absolutely fabulous

The barge was small and intimate,comfortable and well maintained,the meals were to die for ,thank you Sylvie and Irene. Perfect in every way!

We enjoyed this tour immensely and would recommend it to anyone wanting a small, personable, tailored tour of some of the most amazingly old and historical parts of Nothern Italy. The bike riding was the best way to see some "out of the crowd" hidden gems, covering much more than able to on foot. The bikes were fantastic, well maintained and easy to ride and adjust if needed. The cabins were comfortable, well setout with ensuite and air conditioning. Ample supplies of food and breakfasts, and deliciously cooked dinners at night made the evenings very relaxing. Drinks aboard were very reasonably priced and tea and coffee never ending. Tour Leaders and all boat crew were totaly amazing! A thoroughly enjoyable holiday!

Bike & Boat is the Way to Go!

We had a great time on the Mantua to Venice tour. Having to only unpack once was so convenient- no wasted time packing/repacking and checking into/out of hotels. The staff was top notch, from our guides Sylvia & Fabio, to boat crew. Friendly, accessible and fun to talk with. The food was delicious and plentiful- we even bought the cookbook that was written by one of our guides and the chef on the cruise. Biking was easy and very scenic, with just the right amount of time on the bike and time to explore. We're already planning our next tour with this company!

Beyond All Expectations

This trip was beautifully executed from the minute we came on board. Our outstanding guide, Helmut made us feel welcome and was always attentive to our safety and comfort. The captain Jano was personable and we felt in capable hands with him as well as the engineer, Andrea. The food was 5 ⭐️! Sylvia and Alberto treated everyone with meals based on local traditions and mouth-watering flavors! It was easy to see that a lot of thought and planning went into creating a unique experience traveling through the countrysides of Italy. The charming tours and cappuccino stops along the way were perfectly timed and delightful. The crew fostered an ambience of comaraderie amongst the group. The social aspect of the tour made it even more memorable with lively conversations and the exchange of cultures. We could not have asked for a better vacation - already planning where to go next year!

Best Crew ever

What a wonderful surprise this tour was! The crew were fantastic and made everyone feel welcome and they took care of any of passengers’ needs right away. The rooms, while a little small, met our needs and the shower was large enough and maintained excellent water pressure and temperature without any fluctuations. The meals exceeded everyone’s expectations with fresh ingredients delivered every day. Our chefs Alberto and Sylvia simply hit a home run with each and every meal. Our guides Sylvia (yes two Sylvias) and Marco were so much fun and you could tell that they really enjoyed leading our group. I really can’t say enough about this 7 person crew, they all worked together performing what ever tasks were required with dedication and smiles. The president and vice president of the tour company joined us for dinner one evening which affirmed their commitment to providing a great product for the passengers.
This is not a challenging bike tour so just don’t expect it to be, however we had one of the 30 mile days with some pretty strong headwinds. It should also be noted that Venice to Mantua is against the river flow so you will be climbing slightly the whole way. Some of the dirt roads need to be graded as we had to dodge numerous pot holes and there many shared roads with rude drivers but our guides did a great job keeping us safe. The ride in Mantua was by far the nicest on a dedicated bike path!- What was the date of your tour?

Cycling in Portugal was an amazing adventure! The scenery was exceptional, the routes were mostly flat, some hills at the end of the week, food along the coast (grilled fresh fish, fruit and vegetables) was all part of a very special week. Fred, part owner in Algarve Bike Holidays, could not have been more friendly and supportive. We were provided with a Garmin that had the routes already downloaded. We were a little challenged with this when construction blocked our route. Regardless, we always made it to our end location which included large resort hotels as well as quaint bed and breakfast inns. We went in July which turned out to be exceptionally hot so be sure to carry lots of water and start your trek early in the morning.

Debbie & Phyllis' Excellent Adventure
· Algarve Coastal Route
This was our 7th trip with Biketours.com, and one of our favorite routes, by far. The route was spectacular, and unlike a few of our previous trips - the towns were we spent the night each offered a delightful mix of sightseeing & dining options to take advantage of. And we can't say enough about Fred and the rest of the group at Algarve Bike Holidays. From the materials they provided ahead of time to the extra TCL by helping us with a flat on Sunday afternoon, so we didn't lose time on Monday waiting for the local bike shop to open - they went above and beyond. The hotels were particularly nice - some of the best breakfast buffets we've experienced so far. This was the first time we took a trip that was guided via GPS - and it is definitely the way to go!
