Fun ride, slow pace
Lisbon Food Tasting E-Bike Tour
The cycling portion was a great way to see Alfama's quirky streets, but the tastings themselves felt a bit rushed at times. While the food was delicious, I wish we had spent slightly more time enjoying the local markets.

The local tour company was amazing! Checked in with us every day since we self guided. Bikes were great as were the hotels. We would highly recommend this tour for mountain bikers who who want less challenge or road bikers who want more.

Wonderful scenery.
Portugal's Atlantic Coast
A wonderful way to see the Atlantic Coast. I found it to br much harder than expected because of the many hills, some of which were very steep. I requested an e-bike at the end of the first day and it was organised and delivered to Obidos the next morning. This made all the difference to my enjoyment of the tour. I was very impressed with the bikes, tour information, and staff. Overall it was a wonderful experience.

Gorgeous Coastal Ride and Villages
Portugal's Atlantic Coast
Portugal is a very welcoming and beautiful country to visit. The villages we stayed in were charming, hotels were wonderful and the people were very kind to us. I especially loved Sintra and Cascais. However, I would not do Portugal by bike again as there is way to much climbing and traffic/tour buses to fully enjoy the views. At the start of the ride some of our bikes had shifting issues and we experienced dropped chains and a lot of gear skipping. Luckily we had a bike mechanic in our group who made adjustments and we were able to continue the ride without outside help. I would suggest the gearing be replaced or fixed before anyone rides bike #12 again. It has an issue around gear #5 that our mechanic said needed fixed in a shop.

Beautiful sights, costal cities, and small villages

Excellent routing, beautiful tour. Great support. We used Ride with GPS and Google maps to shorten our routes after day one. 45 miles in those hills was to challenging. Those in our group who stayed the course weren't getting in till 6:30

Great Tour
Portugal's Atlantic Coast
This was a great tour, with a mix of countryside, fishing villages, and majestic views! Our group chose to spend an extra day in Sintra and Cascais and might have added another in retrospect. With the longer daily mileage, and extra day would have provided a little more time to explore. Be prepared for hills, many of them quite steep! But the views are worth it.

Lovely tour
Portugal's Atlantic Coast
This tour was lovely. The hotels were beautiful. The local company is very responsive, and sent someone right away to adjust brakes and derailleurs on one of our rented bikes. The route is quite hilly. For those not in peak cycling form, I recommend an electric bike. I also recommend taking an extra day in Sintra to see all of the sights.

An experience of a lifetime

A ride trip to explore Portugal the best way I could experience. Choose to engage with Bike Tours was a rewarding journey as the planning was almost flawless right from the beginning. Their agents were responsive and answered all my questions, or doubts and issues, timely updates and reminders and good specific ground arrangements. The ride route was amazingly beautiful. It's my first time doing a self guided international ride, and it's easy to navigate, and route is clear. Me and my best friend had a blast of our own sweet time, stopping at any view point we like. I guessed that's the good thing about self guided tours. I would definitely recommend Bike Tours and also might even consider planning myself another bike trip with them.

How to make pilgrimage easier?
Camino de Santiago: From Porto to Santiago de Compostela
I made with my son the self-guided tour from Porto to Santiago de Compostela in mid-September. We expected hot days, but we often needed to wear jackets due to ocean breeze. In comparison to Insbruck-Salzburg tour we found this one more difficult, especially in parts with crowds of pilgrims on narrow and richly rooted forest paths or cobble stone streets. In these circumstances taking distance of 60 km could be challenging. Generally, we are happy from our choice. Views on ocean with rocky coast was wonderful, and collecting stamps in Camino passports joined us spiritually with pilgrims, although riding e-bikes we could be treated as cheaters. We express also gratitude to Daniel who greeted us in Porto and explained everything in all details.

This is our 6th tour with BikeTours.com. Like all of the others we've done it was great! The hotels are always wonderful, the route easy to follow and the sights and suggestions also wonderful. This trip had some challenging hills (and we are experienced cyclists) but the views from the top were worth every pedal stroke. We had the hybrid bikes and they were perfect for the journey. We will be using BikeTours.com for future trips I know.

Camino
Camino de Santiago: From Porto to Santiago de Compostela
Overall, this was a fun and interesting trip. The ebikes were great. Never came close to running out of battery power. We used the premium hotel option, but didn’t think all the hotels lived up to that status. The route can be tricky to follow in a few places but the garmin and app do a great job of showing the way. Our biggest complaint was that a few of the rockier sections should’ve been bypassed. The ebikes are not designed for riding over large rocks and are quite heavy to manually maneuver. Since we already skipped a few sections of the trail not good for mixing bikes and hikers, it seemed that these other sections should’ve been skipped as well. Bag transfers and hotel check-ins all went smoothly. The taxi ride to Porto was a bit harrowing, as the driver almost had an accident.

We had a great time with perfect weather first week of October as we made our way down the coast. The service provider was pretty much perfect with pick up, luggage transfer and final transfer. The hotel selection was v good to amazing (Ericeira).
Electric bike is NOT an option on this trip as the climbs were 2000 to 3000 feet daily many at steep grades.
Be aware the bike infrastructure is a work in progress in Portugal so there is a lot of time on roads but the drivers were all respectful. The route uses a lot of small secondary roads that are quiet but from time to time you’ll have to ride on a local highway. The route includes several more remote gravel agricultural roads along windswept heights along the ocean. English in any random village cafe is just fine and in the bigger cities excellent. The Portuguese seem very welcoming and pleased to have you there.
The last morning downhill from Sintra mountain through the forest park on perfect pavement arcing through the pine forest with revealed vistas to north and south is something I will always remember .

Wonderful trip, beautiful country.

We had a great time seeing Portugal. The sights, people, food and route were all wonderful. The coastal towns had jaw dropping scenery. Obidos and Sintra were picture postcard perfect. An extra day in Sintra to see the castles is a must. We rode premium road bikes through challenging climbs. Only the uphill Sintra cobbles required walking the bike. Well organized tour

Adventure every day.
Vicentine Coast of Portugal & Algarve
Biking is always a great way to travel. This ride was an adventure! The scenery is breathtaking, the riding was moderate with a mix of surfaces, the nightly accommodations were comfortable and each one was in a great location.
