delightful part of Germany to explore
Munich & the Bavarian Lakes
We did a self-guided tour of Munich and the Bavarian Lakes in late August 2025. The trip was well-organized with on-point cue sheets and GPS and map for directions. The hotels were fantastic--large rooms, good breakfasts and great staff. The scenery was beautiful and the towns we stayed in had tons of Bavarian charm. Baggage delivery was well-managed and always arrived before the stated time.
Downsides were poor guidance at our introductory appointment. The coordinator--Jose-- miscommunicated the time of our intro and when we did work out a time to meet he was not very helpful. He didn't go over the routes and didn't help us with the bikes except when we insisted. We wanted to change out our pedals and he resisted helping us. He finally gave us a tool to help. My bike was too large for me even though I had given my height when I reserved. He didn't want to replace it with a bike that fit me and told me it might cost more to get a bit to fit me! I told him it was unacceptable to ride a bike that was too big for me as I could injure myself if I had to jump off. He finally agreed to get me a bike that fit. He gave us a pump that was broken and then didn't explain that the valves on the tires are set up to allow pumping at gas stations. Fortunately, at our first night's stop there was a Eurobike office next door to the hotel and we talked to Thomas-- managing that office. He was fantastic. Spent an hour with us explaining the bikes and giving us tips about the rest of the route and what to see and do.
The other downside which isn't a fault of the tour operator, but should be explained to Americans--is that about 1/3 of the regional cycle trails are gravel. Some are not well-maintained. Most of the rode biking in the US is done on paved roads so we were unprepared for so much gravel and I felt nervous going up and down the hills when it was hard to control the bike.

Fabulous and exceeded expectations
Danube Delights: Biking through Four Countries
From the moment we arrived on board I felt welcomed. The entire staff went out of their way to answer questions, offer help and with a smile. The captain took his job very serious, but also had a sense of humor. Our director, Leslie, kept us laughing as he presented valuable information on the boat, bike routes, city tours, etc. The actives on board like 70 & 80's music night and karaoke night were so much fun. I have not danced and laughed so much in years. I will be going again and have already told many friends they need to book this trip!

Danube Bike Path 8 Nights (Upscale Lodging)
What a wonderful way to see Austria! We thoroughly enjoyed the changing vistas, the quiet villages, the charming cafes and restaurants, and the upscale lodging!
The bikes provided were of high quality and the navigation was clear.
I had chosen a standard bike as I was informed that the tour was mostly flat or downhill. However, I found terrain ti be up and down, some days with an elevation of 600m. This should be mentioned in the tour description.
Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend this way of exploring Europe!

Great Trip Around Lake Constance with our Three-Year Old Daughter
Lake Constance Bicycle Path
This was our second bicycle tour and we would definitely recommend it! We did the tour with our 3 year-old daughter, who rode along in a child trailer. There are lots of parks and playgrounds along this route, which is primarily a designated cycle path - so it is very kid friendly with only a couple short climbs. We did picnics every day of the tour.
The bikes were excellent. I broke one bike chain but had no problem getting help from a local bike shop, which was listed in the tour materials and next to our hotel. Navigation on this route is pretty straightforward, although you may wish to check your gps on your smart phone in a couple of places near some of the hotels.
The breakfasts and accommodations were excellent, and a few of the hotels were resort-level properties.

A Beautiful 5-Day Ride from Prague to Dresden
Prague to Dresden Along the Vltava & Elbe Rivers
This was our 7th cycle trip with Biketours and one of the most scenic, especially considering the ease of the terrain. We traveled with our 2 daughters, ages 12 and 8, who did well on this route, which is mostly on dedicated and paved cycle ways. I would recommend this trip for anyone looking for routes that are suitable for families with children or for folks who simply want to avoid biking on motorways. The lodging was good to excellent by European standards (even for 4 people), and the boarding (breakfasts) were consistently excellent. The local tour company is one of the best I have seen in terms of their speed of communication and proficiency with technology, as they responded in moments via mobile apps when we had questions and provided detailed GPS navigation instructions. The bikes and gear were all in good condition with no mechanical issues. Bottom line, I would strongly recommend this tour, especially for families.

Lake Constance Bicycle Path
We had a great time on this bike trip. The routes were clearly planned and the hotels were great with very good beds and excellent breakfast. The bike rental place was very well organized with very pleasant technicians to help getting the correct adjustments. Our bikes were both nearly new (2022 and 2023). We had no snafus at all.
One suggestion: allow for at least two extra days after the ride to visit some of the sites that take more time. For example we did have one day left to visit the Pfahlenbauten Museum. We went by ferry across Lake Constance and spend nearly 4 hours at the museum, a very pleasant day. I would have liked a similar day to visit the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen and then visit Insel Mainau, but we were out of time. A lesson for next time.
We visited some beautiful places but the one that capped it all was from the top of a castle in Ueberlingen. It was just gorgeous.- What was the date of your tour?

Great itinerary
Danube Bike Path 5-nights (Active)
From the welcome on Night 1 to the hotels along the way, the trip was well-planned; the guide who did our first night introduction was very thorough and helpful. Luggage pickup/dropoff was timely, which was a relief since we had to bike in the rain 2 days. Beautiful and interesting scenery along the way. Definitely recommend.

The biking was perfect for families, exercise with the ability to stop along the way for food or sights of interest. Hotels were charming, very clean, friendly and the food was great. I am already looking into another bike trip next year with bike tours, perhaps Ireland. Need I saw more.

A summer bicycle ride along the banks of the Danube was great fun: easy biking, clearly marked route, beautiful scenery, friendly locals, what more could you ask? A little knowledge of German is helpful on the self-guided tours, but not necessary.

Danube Discovery: Bike and Boat through Enchanting Capitals
Wow! - what a fantastic experience gliding down the stunning Danube. The itinerary was first class - our bikes were just great while the accommodation, meals & service on the 'Manon' were all excellent. Richie from BikeTours.com and the boat staff were just great - helpful, organized, and fun!
The boat is older but being retired. Having said that, other than rough towels that needed replacing, and controlling the temperature in our cabin, the dining, lounge, lido deck, and entertainment were perfect. It's a laid back experience compared to the large ocean cruise ships which created a very 'family-oriented' feel. The scenery, historical sites, and biking in mainly Austria was just great - Austria is very well set-up for biking usually out of any car traffic. Riding along the Danube river through Austria to Vienna was a wonderful experience. Everything was very well organised, from bike collection, through route guidance, accommodation and support. The riding is easy, though on our ride we did encounter some strong head winds. There is spectacular scenery and interesting villages to keep interest up. We thoroughly recommend the bike tour.

It was a wonderful trip and a great way to experience the region. The trails were beautiful and the accommodations were quite charming. On a couple of occasions, the maps didn’t correspond exactly to the locations and in need of updating - meaning, the trail began or ended not exactly at the hotel. But overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this.

Fabulous tour of Southern Germany
Romantic Road and Bavarian Lakes
Delightful tour of the rural countryside outside of Munich. Roads were calm with little traffic and the bike paths were well marked. The written turn-by-turn directions were supplemented by a digital routing app, which greatly helped with navigation during the tour. The hotels were charming with friendly staff and breakfast never disappointed before heading out for our daily ride.

Our family loved this trip! The daily biking was a perfect amount, allowing time for sightseeing.
