Dalmation Coast, Croatia Boat and bike - a unique experience!
Pearls of Dalmatia by Bike and Boat, Romantica
What a wonderful way to see this part of Croatia!
It was a unique experience for us. I liked the combination of an active component to the holiday and cultural experience. Living aboard a mechanized sailboat while exploring some of the Dalmation islands was a great way to combine sightseeing with accommodation. The bike and tour guides, as well as boat crew were wonderful and did all they could to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying the tour.- What was the date of your tour?

Bike, Barge, Fine Dining!
Amsterdam to Cologne along the IJssel and Rhine
What a super trip! The Merlin is a beautiful barge and the crew exceptionally welcoming. Meals were gourmet, the scenery beautiful, and the cycling was so perfect. Ilsa was a terrific guide - the picture of patience, a font of knowledge, and an expert cyclist. The small group size meant we were able to become acquainted with each other very quickly, which was fun. The staterooms were so comfortable and inviting. Superb service. This trip certainly exceeded my expectations.

Super trip! You have to do the experience
Amsterdam – Bruges by Bike and Boat – Magnifique II (and reverse)
C’est un voyage extraordinaire. Incroyable je le recommande fortement à tout le monde qui a envie de s’amuser de se reposer tout en faisant du sport . on faisait en moyenne 58 km par jour parfois moins. Nous avions des arrêts tr’es intéressants. On avait le choix de faire des court ou long parcours . Je ne suis pas la personne très en forme mais avec un E-bike j’ai pu suivre mon mari et tous les autres sans problème. Cherche la batterie le soir et en cas de besoin durant le trajet, il y a toujours des batteries de recharge que les accompagnateurs ont avec eux. En plus on visite des endroits magnifiques. Cela a été une merveilleuse expérience et sincèrement, les employés sur le bateau ont été merveilleux . Tous étaient souriants et aimables. Le capitaine nous a invité à aller faire un tour dans la cabine de navigation très impressionnant. Il était vraiment gentil.

Leaders and group made this a magical experience
Pearls of Dalmatia by Bike and Boat, Romantica
Not only did we have an exceptional trio of guides with us, we had an unusually small group which made usb bond so much easier. Loved getting to know the others on our boat, the Romantica, and travel around the beautiful isles of Croatia. I started off with a regular bike, able to manage the hills fairly easily, but always coming in just a bit later than those on e-bikes. There were some extra e-bikes and we decided on Day 4 to give it a try, and I was sold - it THEN became a vacation!! I didn't mind the effort pedaling uphill the minute we got on our bikes in the morning, but after pedaling on an e-bike, it's just so easy - and I didn't use the "help" that much, but when I wanted it, it was there and I didn't have to struggle at all! Sooooo nice!

60th birthday celebration
Enchanting Cyclades and Saronic Islands
I felt like a kid again, riding through amazing landscapes, swimming in the sea, sleeping under the stars, and laughing tell it hurt while playing games on deck. Our guide was charming, engaging, accommodating, and hilarious and the crew was attentive, friendly, and fun, constantly scanning the conditions to ensure our route was safe and enjoyable. The food was delicious; abundant, varied, and authentic. And I met fabulous people with whom I continue to share my travels. This was a life changing trip.

2nd Bike and Barge trip
Altmühl Valley and Danube River
The beginning was not as picturesque as one would have hoped. The small towns were quaint and the guide Ilsa was great. She was very knowledgeable about each town and stopped at points of interest along the way. We were vegetarians and the food was somewhat lacking. The room on the barge was nice and the bathroom a good size.

I feel lucky!
Tulip Tour on the Magnifique II, III, & IV
It was a privilege to travel with your crew on the Magnifique Iii! The accommodations were very comfortable, and the food was spectacular! I was on a standard bike at 64+, and was proud - and a little sore - riding the “ long route” each day, We were lucky with the weather, and had splendid views of the tulips. I suggest, though, that you consider having two guides per groups of twentyish cyclists. Volunteer “ sweepers” did not provide the confidence of safety one would prefer. This trip goes through some urban areas where those of us unfamiliar with biking protocol in the Netherlands felt unsafe, and one of our guides, Marcel, provided rather sketchy directions and then proceeded through an intersection or roundabout rather cavalierly. Many of us on the trip were over sixty, and the possibility of an accident was very real and scary - indeed, two people in his group had falls the first day, and one did not get on a bike again for the rest of the trip. Please consider adding secondary guides, even if that means raising prices. Finally, a shout out to Cori - so well - informed about culture and history, so patient with our questions. I would follow her anywhere. I wrote a poem commemorating the trip which I shared with Captain Peter - please feel free to use it.

Nice tour through some of the less visited islands near Athens.
Enchanting Cyclades and Saronic Islands
Nice relaxing boat tour to less visited small islands. The crew that ran the boat was wonderful and the food was very good. The boat itself was very nice, so nice you had to take your shoes off when getting on the boat. Some cabins had problems with mosquitoes at night when trying to sleep. The terrain on the islands was mountainous so the E-bikes were very needed. Very Scenic roads. little traffic.
The schedule of what islands you visit does change depending on the weather. One thing I did not like was that the riding most days did not start until 3:30 pm. this was in Oct. and it stared getting dark before the ride was done a couple of times and theses bike had no lights or reflectors.- What was the date of your tour?

A Sampler of Riding Along German Rivers

While there were interesting sights along the Main, and the Rhine, I found the riding along the Mosel to be the most scenic - and the least affected by traffic noise, etc.

My First Bike Trip
Amsterdam – Bruges by Bike and Boat – Magnifique IV (and reverse)
This was my first bike trip and whilst i am not an "avid" cyclist i do consider myself to be a regular cyclist and having paid attention to some prior training i thought i would be OK to do this trip and keep up with everyone. However, i found the pace to be difficult and was unable to keep up with most of the group due to the fact that at least 50%/60% of them were riding E Bikes!!
This trip would have been more enjoyable for me if the group had been split between regular and E Bikers.
The boat was above expectations in every respect and the captain and crew were amazing and created a very comfortable, warm and inviting atmosphere. The chef is a wonder and served some truly wonderful dishes. I thought i would return from this trip having lost some weight but instead i have gained!!!

Bike and Boat Croatia’s Dalmatia Coast
The boat was good, the meals were great, the guides were helpful and entertaining. The itinerary was probably a bit too busy. The differences in the islands was not substantial so if we had visited fewer and were not cruising during breakfast, it might have made more sense to get earlier starts to avoid the high temperatures. As an alternative, providing more detailed maps for those who would have liked to bike out on their own would have been nice. The e-bikes were essential for many of us and they worked beautifully. The extent or length of the climbs was a bit surprising. Gorgeous country.

Great crew and bike guide
Enchanting Cyclades and Saronic Islands
We had a really great time on the trip. Our guide, Dionesis was fantastic in every way. The food was wonderfully prepared and served. We enjoyed great service. The boat was very clean and comfortable. Our cabin was big enough for the two of us. The high winds did prohibit us from being able to go to the Cyclades Islands, which was disappointing but we did go to other places in the Saronic Islands that were nice. It was also disappointing that we never sailed. When we asked, the captain said that the winds were too low or the passage was too short. I sensed that the crew wasn’t trained to sail the boat. Again, one of the reasons we chose this trip was to sail. We also spent 2 nights of the 7 in the home port in Athens. This area is not very interesting and again was disappointing.

Well done
Bike and Boat Croatia’s Dalmatia Coast
I thought that the tour was very well organized. The guides (Ivan and Jelena) were excellent. Ivan's command of English and tour guide experience were especially valuable. Jelena's upbeat personality and cycling experience added even more joy to the tour. Island hopping did a great job of organizing each day's rides and events and the San Snova's crew was excellent, especially Andro (Saloon manager and bartender). The Capt. and crew were very efficient and friendly.
Frankly, 2 weeks was a bit too much for me to do basically the same thing each day, I would have preferred a 1 week tour with less time spent in Split and Dubrovnik (crowded tourist towns). I do realize that most of the people on the tour were fine with the itinerary. I think that the tour information guide should more accurately describe the rigor of the tour. By the time we were barely getting started, virtually everyone (except 2 incredibly strong riders) had requested or later opted for Ebikes during the tour.
Otherwise a good tour. Also helpful that Jim Johnson was there to add his experience and fellowship.- What was the date of your tour?

Fun time
Holland’s Super Tulip Tour
The tour was fun but the company had one of our main itinerary items (the flower auction) scheduled during a time that it was closed so it just was not part of our tour even though it was on the itinerary. Our guide made the best of it for us by finding a substitute activity (once we complained that it was being skipped and was a huge part of our overall trip)but the company should be accountable for its agreed upon itinerary.
