A rewarding challenge
Lake Constance to Lake Maggiore
We knew that the ride would be a challenge for us, especially the climbs, but with the efficiently working e-bike assistance, we were able to make it work and that was a reward in itself. We have done multiple Europe tours through BikeTours and this was the first time that we followed an online map app. It worked very well. We were disappointed when we first arrived and realized that there would not be an orientation meeting with a live person. But, with the printed instructions and the app, it worked smoothly. A number of times during the tour we saw on our phone screen that we had made a wrong turn and were able to quickly correct the mistake and stay on track. The hotels were all first rate, with the exception of Buchs, where the hotel was undergoing extensive rehab work and we had to walk through construction zones to get to our room. Our only real complaint about the hotels was, with the exception of the Lugano hotel, they had no air conditioning. At least a fan would have helped us sleep better. But overall they were very nice and we were treated with fine hospitality. The scenery and the sites were amazing. It was a wonderful break from the sweltering California summer heat.

We loved every minute of our trip. We got lost a few times, but realised that in Austria the sign posting wasn't as reliable than it was in Germany and Switzerland.

A great adventure!
Lake Constance Bicycle Path
This was a fantastic experience for both myself and my fiancé to explore the Swiss and German countryside. The tour maps laid out everything very clearly and we enjoyed biking through beautiful small villages. We would take every opportunity to stop along the biking trail at local historic sites and castles that were all suggested in our tour guide booklet. Each hotel we stayed at was top notch with very comfortable amenities and free breakfast included in the morning (which was great before biking 30-40miles). Overall we were super pleased with our decision to go on this trip. It was so well organized and it took out all the stress of having to plan out all the small details so that we could just enjoy biking and having fun.

Perfect Family Trip!

Bodensee Views & Sights
Lake Constance Bicycle Path
We had a bit of a slow start with the bicycle company & the bicycles. They were not as prepared as the former bike tour/company we biked with the week before.
The majority of the trails were great! Some gravel, but not bad.
The tour itself was fantastic! The cities and things and places we saw were amazing! The hotels and breakfasts were top notch!!
Convenience of WC was great!

Easy and scenic

gREAT trip, excellent accommodation but to improve accommodation we would recommend having tea/coffee making facilities in every room and preferably a small fridge that guests can keep cool drinks in. Especially important at end of a day if guests arrive hot, tired or thirsty

Alles Gute zum Bodensee! Fabulous trip around Lake Constance!
Lake Constance Classic (11-nights)
One of our best self-guided bike tours, ever! Signage was prominently displayed, directions and highlights "worth a stop," equipment top notch and best of all, the regional food, friendly people and amazing sights made this trip highly memorable. I might add we are 70-somethings and found the designated bike paths a wonderful way to experience the many faces (German, Swiss and Austrian) of the Bodensee. The museum pass was truly a wonderful "bonus" experience . . . so many beautiful gardens (Reichenau, Mainau), museums (Hermann Hesse, Otto Dix, Zeppelin, Prehistoric stilt houses, etc), monasteries, churches and castles! We would do this trip again, just to experience more adventures through vineyards, apple orchards and varied cultures.

Excellent!
Lake Constance Classic (11-nights)
Overall an excellent tour. One thing which would have improved it would have been a little more precise directions - possibly in the form of a printed addendum - giving the INITIAL directions from each hotel to the start point e.g. bike path for each day's ride. Sometimes this was tricky and the scale of the map wasn't helpful. A classic example was the hike day at Rorschach. Most of us missed the hike trail because it was unclear where it started in relation to the Heiden train station.

Exceeded All Expectations!
Lake Constance Classic (11-nights)
This was our first tour and definitely not our last. We were nervous about the distance and how our 13 year old would handle the daily routine. My worst fear was that we would be counting down the days or taking the train to avoid meltdowns, by mother and/or daughter. This was never the case, even in the rain. We were so sad when it was over, we would have happily continued for another week. Cycling, swimming, and picnicking our way around the route made for a stress free and amazing holiday.
We cycle frequently, but didn't purchase any special clothing. My secret weapon for fhe saddle was a custom knit seat cover by a close friend.- What was the date of your tour?

Best trip ever
Lake Constance Classic (11-nights)
Best way to see as much as possible in a day is on a bicycle. We choose the A grade hotels which was not necessary as the standard of hotels in general is very good, The A grade hotels were top class but we spent so little time at each hotel that the facilities offered could not always be full utilized. Half pension (diner included) was very good and relaxing after a day cycling. We found the 6 night tour ample time to complete the 300km round lake Constance. Tour operations went without a hitch and cycle worked perfectly. We have travelled alot and can confirm that this holiday was the best

We rode without a guide aided by Google maps. The map files you provided didn't work for me! Google maps did an adequate job and I always felt comfortable relying on it! We truly enjoyed the ride, the hotel stays, and the map book was a great reference to have available!

Fabulous trip!

It was a great way to travel to see the beautiful country side and small towns with friends. The accommodations and breakfasts were always good. The only issue we had being a self guided tour was the information given in the guide book was sometimes not clear and found ourselves lost a few times. We did not receive the gps track. Luckily we had some data on our phones and good navigators. Overall a fabulous trip!

Adventure Around the Lake

A perfect way to spend 10 or so days biking. There is so much to see on this mostly bike trail ride. If you are looking for a relaxing trip with things to see each day, this is the one. A little research on each of the towns you stay will reward you with some fun things to see. Most of all, plenty of Benches to stop and take in the sites around you.

Exceeded expectations!
Lake Constance Classic (11-nights)
Our group of 4 opted for the self guided tour. The e-bikes were great and we are happy we chose them even though we are all able-bodied cyclists. There are a few hills where the e-bike made the trip much more enjoyable and they are smooth pedaling for flat terrain. The hotels were all charming and very convenient to the towns. Breakfasts were always amazing. The only downside was lack of directions to and from the hotels to the daily route. We got lost and back tracked often. Wish there were simple written instructions as the maps provided didn’t give any turn by turn instructions.
