Pisa to Lucca Round-Trip Bike Tour

Our guide Dani was wonderful. The bikes were in great condition. The process was easy. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Great local guide on a mission to uncover the history of his hometown

    Palermo Old Town Bike Tour

The bike tour in Palermo is a fantastic way to explore the city's rich history and vibrant culture. Riding through charming streets, you'll visit iconic landmarks like the Palermo Cathedral and Quattro Canti, while enjoying the lively atmosphere of local markets. Fabio was a knowledgeable guide, who provided fascinating insights into Palermo's history, and the pace is relaxed, making it suitable for all fitness levels. It's a unique, fun way to see the city’s hidden gems and experience its authentic charm up close. Nice touch at the tour's last stop is a homemade almond cookie they gave to all of us.

    Great way to discover Milan

    Milan Hidden Treasures Bike Tour

The tour is fun, and very well organized in terms of places it takes you. Besides all the Milan's major sights, it also includes some of the less known, not that obvious touristic spots, which I found was very neat. My major highlights were Chinatown, and few new and ultra modern neighborhoods, architecture wise. These are all located in the vicinity od the immediate city centre. Our guide Polina was beyond great, you could tell she takes pride in her work, and the city she lives in. She also taught us some fabolous aperitivo places, as we were passing by them, the type of place you wouldn't know for unless a local showed you. Another bonus goes to the way Milan is laid out, being all very flat and extremely easy to bike.

    Good weather, amazing Dolomites

Bicycle Paths of the Dolomites (based in one hotel)

Based at a friendly family hotel where we were served bountiful delicious food prepared from local products, we were able to enjoy each days ride with energy and enthusiasm. Our bikes were comfortable and reliable. We appreciated the app to keep on track and to be alerted to places of interest to visit and to get to know the areas we visited. The locals were welcoming too.
The rides provided enough challenge for us without e-support although we could choose level of difficulty with the variations offered.
A great week in the South Tyrol valleys and meadows.

    Self-guided Northern Italy

    Bolzano – Verona – Venice

Great ride, E Bikes, 3 adults in their 70's and 80's.
We had a wonderful self-guided ride about 220 miles on mostly- paved wide bike paths using the GPS tracks which we had previously downloaded and riding on our Girolibero bikes (which were in perfect shape). The travel guide emailed to us by Bike Tours was excellent, giving cultural information as well as the daily mileage requirement and tips on how to shorten our day using the local trains which we never found to be desired or necessary. The guide also included all the necessary vouchers for our hotels, ferry ride and free ice cream as well as travel info on getting to Bolzano. The ride itself was spectacularly beautiful, especially starting near the Dolomites and following the River Adige with mountains on the other side all the way down to Lake Garda.
There was a detour programmed into our GPS tracks and also a surprise one which was not. We navigated that short detour pretty well for not speaking Italian thanks to the very helpful/understandable signage. We had selected three star hotels which we might change to four star for our next ride. The first three days the hotels and the breakfasts were top notch but after that got progressively more like 2 star hotels ending in Venice/Mestre where we were escorted to a refurbished garage behind the main hotel, not what we had hoped for on our last and only night in Italy. In terms of the bike route itself we found the 4 hour ferry ride on Lake Garda unfortunate as there is a bike path around the lake which we would have preferred. The ferry ride was totally fogged in so we could not enjoy the beautiful sights and there was no food or drink available on board -a long 4 hours to think about a glass of wine. On the whole, we loved the trip and would do it again- the mountains, the exercise, the cuisine, the history, the people. Getting to Bolzano when our flights landed in Venice was our biggest problem - we had trouble trying to decipher the train system. But then the Bolzano funicula ride and the adventure on the ridge line overlooking the city and the Dolomites in the distance made up for getting bogged down catching trains. Looking forward to our next self-guided E-bike adventure.

    Amazing views!

Tuscany Getaway: 4 Nights in Siena, Montalcino & Pienza

The itinerary was wonderful, the medieval cities are amazing and very well located hotels. The only thing we didn't like very much was that the way was mostly on narrow paved roads, we were expecting to ride more on dirt roads.

Apart from that, we liked everything, including the e-bikes and local support.

    Trip of my Wife's dreams

Tuscany Getaway: 4 Nights in Siena, Montalcino & Pienza

My wife had dreamed of a Tuscany bike ride, so we decided the time was right. We setup our contract with road bikes. We are used to rode bikes and have never tried eBikes. Our Tour Advisor, Inshaaf Anderson, suggested we consider eBikes due to the hilly Tuscan terrain. Unfortunately, we stayed with the road bikes. The Tuscan hills are long uphill and fast downhill. After our 1st day we were having second thoughts about eBikes. Day 2 included Montepulciano and the most challenging 34 miles of our lives. After reviewing the Day 3 ride to Montalcino we wished we had listened to Inshaaf. We were able to contact and exchange our bikes. Another unfortunately, we had nothing left once we arrived in Montalcino. We made arrangements with Cycloposse to exchange us for the bikes and rode to Siena. A special thanks to Enrico and Panos for their support and compassion. Even though we didn’t complete the tour, we saw some wonderful country and met many wonderful Italians. We enjoyed the hotels very much and had no concerns about the safety of the bikes. A special thanks to Inshaaf, Kate and Taylor for their support during the entire process. Thank you, Bryce and Elizabeth

    Awesome scenery!

Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps

This route is super scenic and the routing is easy enough to follow, especially in Northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The biking is easy although you may want an e-bike if you like to break away from the planned route to visit some castles along the way which are generally located at high points. The accomodations were all very nice and my luggage was reliably transported every day. It’s nice to let someone else plan the details while you concentrate on riding, taking photos, and enjoying the experience.

    Stunning, best way to travel

Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps

This was my first bike tour and, wow, it did not disappoint. Scenery from the get go was absolutely stunning. You traverse incredible border towns between Italy, Austria, and Slovenia on this entire tour, staying at lovely Inns and eating incredible food along the way. My only gripe was that the written directions were confusing at times (have given feedback) but I wouldn’t let this deter you.

Amazing scenery biking through 3 countries

Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps

I have always wanted to see the Dolomites and this was the perfect tour to do so. We actually took a day before the tour started to stay in Cortina and hike. This will not disappoint you as the scenery is spectacular. Then we took a 30 minute bus to Toblach where we picked up our bikes and started the tour. Travelled through Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The food and accommodations were fabulous. The last day was a little disappointing traveling to Trieste as the route led us through some rather busy streets and on top of that it was raining. I would have preferred to take the train option. Otherwise the bike paths were fabulous.

    Well organized, fantastic trip

    Florence to Rome

We really enjoyed this self guided bike tour. The trip was very well organized, and the support was excellent. The app is a great way to easily stay on the correct route. The biking was great - scenic, and the right amount of miles/elevation per day to make it seem like a good solid bike ride while leaving enough energy to explore the really interesting towns along the way.

    Great trip

Innsbruck to Lake Garda Across the Southern Slopes of the Alps

    Expectations Exceeded

    Venice to Trieste and Istria

We spent a few extra days in Venice to start and 5 extra days in Porec at the end. Really glad we spent the extra time. Extending the bike rental was not a problem.
The tour in between was awesome. Accommodations were better than expected and all the towns were charming.

I had a little trouble with my bike. The front hub was a little tight so the wheel didn't spin as freely as it should have. I noticed when we picked up the bikes but didn't think too much of it. After a couple days I contacted the tour company and they brought me a different and better bike. Kudos to the tour operator.

At one hotel there was confusion about a reservation for someone travelling with us. Again, the tour company stepped up. The real measure of the tour company is how they handle problems. They were terrific.

Had a couple directional issues. We have T-Mobile so GPS worked perfectly. Previously we had AT&T with the international package. It was underwhelming to say the least. I highly recommend T-Mobile.

Final day was a bit of a climbing challenge for Mrs. But we managed. The highlights of the tour were riding along the Adriatic, taking the occasional swim and the people we met.

    Fantastic trip !

Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps

We were very pleased with everything. All information from Bike tours was 100% reliable. It was great to visit three countries in 6 days on bicycle. Every day was spectacular and different from each other, but always with beautiful scenery and we felt very safe on the cycling paths. Hotels had good standard, especially the last four hotels, and every village charming and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this trip !

    Vines, Olives, Castles ...

Tuscany and Umbria: Cycling in the Heart of Italy

Wonderful way to see Umbria and (a little bit of) Tuscany at our own pace. It was a pleasure to be welcomed by small bars in areas less frequented by tourists. All details provided by the tour operator were first class. Bikes were good quality, trip notes were easy to understand (and although it only happened a couple of times, it was clear when we went wrong!). All accommodations were welcoming and friendly and all had secure, undercover places for the bikes. The B&B in Castiglione del Lago is particularly worthy of compliment.

We upgraded to road bikes (we are keen road cyclists) and were glad that we had. In hindsight, we should have realised that all mediaeval towns are built on hilltops so although the pre-ride info suggested rolling hills, be prepared for some very steep (although not long) climbs. According to my Garmin, the approach to Orvieto reached nearly a 20% slope for 500m.

Italian drivers all appeared to be very courteous and we had no problems negotiating traffic. The route has been chosen to avoid traffic as much as possible and I would not expect even timid cyclists have a problem with other road users. Unfortunately, some of the quieter roads are also less well maintained, so be prepared to pick your line carefully to avoid potholes and rough road surfaces in some places.

We will treasure our memories of riding through centuries old town gates towards our nightly accommodation - that's not an experience we can have in Australia.

    A wonderful experience.

    Cycling and Cooking in Tuscany

Amazing chief who not only made us delicious meals but also taught us how to make many tasty dishes. He was so friendly and involved and eager to share his love of Italian cooking.
The biking guide and support were always concerned for our comfort with our route and making sure we had water and snacks. We cancelled riding one day due to serious rain so they drove us to the beautiful cities we would have cycled to and we were able to explore.
Our accommodations were lovely and my room had a beautiful view over the valley.
There was a swimming pool but temperatures were just a little too cool to enjoy the pool. The house/kitchen staff were helpful and kind. Breakfasts were delicious with a variety of foods to choose from.
In all it was a wonderful experience for me and I met some lovely people.
