★★★★★ BigRider05 June 25, 2018Perfect pace for a cycling adventure
· Berlin – Copenhagen
Great way to see Germany and Denmark. The route is not particularly hilly, however is a bit windy in Denmark. The self-paced route guides point out many sight-seeing and historic sites and swimming options, as well as options to supplement some of your daily distances with trains. The company also provided GPS files which allowed us to be on auto-pilot most of the time! We met very nice people on this tour: planning to meet up for coffee/cake breaks or dinner gave us a great chance to get to know them better. This was our third tour booked through Bike Tours and we will definitely use them again!

Scenic tour of northern Germany and southern Denmark on designated bike paths

The Berlin to Copenhagen bicycle path is an excellent way to tour some beautiful portions of Germany and Denmark

First, the positives - and there are many. The route took us through some beautiful historic towns and gorgeous countryside. We even took the ferry over to Sweden on the first night so that we could add another country to our list. The bikes were very good. Comfortable and sturdy on the somewhat bumpy gravel roads. The hotels we were booked at were all fantastic and in great locations to enable us to explore each town at night.
We do have some comments about things that might be improved:
- we arrived in Copenhagen on Thursday, 3 days ahead of the start of our bike trip, and were told our bikes would be delivered ~ 7pm on Sunday. They arrived on Thursday afternoon - with no advanced notice. It was fine, it just would have been nice to know to expect them.
- We received absolutely no orientation on the bikes, the route maps, etc. On prior trips we've had people quickly walk through the route, pointing out some recommendations, etc. Only when I asked were we given the opportunity to check the fit of the bikes before the delivery person left them. Fortunately, we've been on 6 or 7 other bike trips with biketours.com, so we were familiar w/ the operation of the bikes, and how to read the directions. We were lucky that we reviewed the daily routes before the start of our trip - otherwise we would not have known that on 3 of the 6 nights we were booked at hotels other than the ones listed in the daily directions.
- There were no 'addenda' to the bike routes to provide directions to the alternate hotels so we had to find them on our own.
- On a similar trip in Portugal we had the opportunity to use a GPS mapping system. Using that, we could immediately tell if we were, or were not on the proscribed route. On multiple occasions this trip the bike routes were overlapping. We went many kilometers without seeing the route number that was listed in the directions - never knowing for certain if we were on the correct path. On the last day, between Roskilde and Copenhagen, we somehow lost the trail just before the start of the C99 superhighway and spent ~ 2 hours trying to find that route again. Fortunately after asking several people we found an individual who knew exactly what we were looking for and put us back on the right track. Using the GPS system that one time enabled us to know in real time whether we were, or were not on track.- What was the date of your tour?

Scenic journey but you better know how to read a map
· Royal Zealand and Copenhagen
The bikes were excellent and the company representative was helpful, knowledgeable and more than willing make sure we had a good trip. The hotel in Copenhagen was an average room but noisy and poor ventilation. Other hotel rooms were mostly average. Breakfast was excellent at all the hotels. Directions were average but confusing. It would be helpful to include city maps with the information so tourists can find street names instead of following the directions. Also, be warned that several routes are on gravel paths, not paved.

The boat is cozy, but it works. -

· Berlin – Copenhagen
Our family of 4 just returned from an excellent 11 night, 10 day self-guided ride from Berlin to Copenhagen. We found the Mecklenburg Radtour company to be extremely well organized, have good equipment and would recommend anyone interested in a great, active holiday to give this a try! This was our first experience with Biketours.com, but we met 4-5 groups of bikers who had done multiple trips with other outfitters who felt this was particularly well organized. The hotels ranged from fine to excellent, and all had terrific breakfasts! The majority of the 400 miles was on well maintained paths and roads with only a few difficult areas.

The routes were well marked, easy to follow and mostly on bike trails or low traffic roads. The bike was a full suspension mountain bike. A little over kill, but it did come in handy a couple of times. The accommodations were centrally located in the towns. The towns are charming and historical. The best day was the tour of the Island of Earo. The Danes are the happiest people on Earth and are very glorious. I will definitely visit Denmark again. I did not get to meet any representative of the tour company.

We had a great family time. Following the tour was easy - one followed the map, the other the instructions - it was worth following the proposed route and not google maps.
On the 65km day, we arrived late at our destination and one of the highlights was already closed. Including a bit of info of the main cultural attractions would be helpful. Have Pellerines ready in your bile box - the weather changes quickly. Tanja was of great help and very responsive! Thank you!- Countries included in this tour?

· Southern Fyn: A Tour Around Denmark’s Fairytale Island
We are a family of 4, kids are 10 and 12.
We usually bike a lot and the climate and terrain were very easy for the kids to handle. It was a beautiful country to bike around, with lovely paths, rolling hills and wild blackberries abound along the trails. All of the cities were charming. The accomodations were nice, we stayed in a hostel in Svenborg that was very lively and a fun change for our kids to be around Danish kids. Bike helmets ended up included so that was a nice surprise. The bikes worked great. Navigation was easy to follow and the recommended App was helpful to not have to pull the map out constantly. I would have biked for another week.- How many tours have you completed?

Best of Northern Zealand
Denmark is an absolutely bike friendly country.
I would call it a paradise for bikers.
To commute, everyone seems to ride a bike over short and long distances.
There were little cars and motorbikes on the course.
Nicely arranged, marked and paved bike pathways on our course (~80 %). The rest were unsealed
farm and forest roads.
People were very friendly and helpful guiding us on
the bike course. Besides Danish the people speak
fluent English (compulsory subject at school).- What was the date of your tour?

Wonderful adventure. Strongly consider e-bike option due to strong headwinds switching between north and south. This is a new trip and we were on the maiden voyage, so the guides were becoming familiar with the routes available. Great food and ambiance.

Best bike/sail trip yet!
· · Denmark and Sweden by Sail and Bike
We had 30 bikers, so the group was divided into two, and eventually evolved into three biking groups. Since many had downloaded the app, some people set off on their own. The e-bikes were wonderful and welcome since the winds off the coast could be strong! Although it rained on arrival day, it was sunny and 60’s every day thereafter. The biking varied- from urban streets to rural farm areas with few major inclines. Amazing traditional and contemporary architecture, climbing roses, peonies, and poppies everywhere. Danish and Swedish locals were friendly and helpful as needed.
The ship had 4 comfortable areas for people to hang out in; two inside and two outside. The sailing crew (all young women) were fabulous: friendly, helpful, and strong (!) when putting up the sails! Chef Pete was phenomenal- gourmet meals and fika daily at 4:00. The Captain was friendly and entertaining - very proud of his boat and crew, understandably.
The tour guides were friendly, fun, and incredibly helpful as bikers fell or had tire issues. In past bike/barge tours, the program guides provided more history, info, etc about each city, but we googled/translated info as needed.
I’ve been on 3 other bike/sail trips so assumed the compartments would be small; there were complaints among new tour participants expecting more room. -

Fun mix of bike & boat
· · Denmark and Sweden by Sail and Bike
This was our third biketours trip and it was a great one. The scenery wasn't as awe inspiring as the Dolomites trip, and the historical sights weren't as strong as the Catalonia trip, but it was a pleasant trip in two great countries.
The rides weren't difficult, the boat was fun, the food was great. -

For the cabins-- NEED to include ladder or stool for the cabins (4 of them) that have one bed that is almost 120 cm high we had to move our cabin to cabin #2 which was much smaller. Without the stool or ladder I couldn't get in and out of bed safely

This trip delivered on every level I was looking for. The route, the distance to ride on each leg, the hotels and towns stopping at each leg all excellent. The people on the tour were fun and the people I met along the way were also helpful and friendly. The route notes and maps were good and the bike was also just right for me. So happy I took this tour.

Loved it!
· Berlin – Copenhagen
A great trip to get the flavor of both Germany and Denmark (it was fun to observe the differences). Each day you wake up to a great buffet breakfast and then cycle all day - and I do mean all day. If, like me, you are not a strong cyclist, you will find it challenging. Stronger cyclists (and people who get up earlier than 8 am) may find more time to stop and see things along the way, but for us, there was little time to linger. The actual mileage (the bikes had odometers) was about 10 km longer (each day) than listed. We rode until around 4pm (with occasional stops) and then relaxed at the hotel a bit before exploring the town and going for dinner. I think the trip is great for people who really want an active vacation. With the exception of 2 of the hotels in Germany, we loved the accommodations. The tour was very well organized both with the local tour company and Bike Tours.com (who were very
helpful when booking). Traveling like this is so much more fun than the conventional way. We loved biking through the tiny towns, quiet woods and farmlands.
