Spain Was Wonderful!

Our first trip to Spain was fantastic. This was not our first bike tour we were much better prepared. We had some difficulty navigating the Barcelona airport and train station to get to Girona. Once we arrived however, all was absolutely beautiful. I cannot give enough praise to Daniel. His briefing, preparation of the bikes and tips on stops along the various routes was excellent. He was a joy to work with. The only comment was to possibly reconsider staying one night in Monells instead of two. Monells is a very charming village but very small and limited sites to see. Otherwise, I would not change a thing! You will not be disappointed.

Fabulous Way to Experience Beautiful Catalonia

This tour was a magical way to see the sights and sounds of beautiful Catalonia. The bikes were of a superior quality and shifted easily - which was a good thing because there was a lot of shifting involved along the way. The accommodations were top-notch and the GPS perfectly directed us along the way. Daniel was an exceptional vendor and his positive nature and encouragement were welcome and valued. He checked-in during the tour to make sure that all was well. This trip was a dream come true and comes highly recommended!

Biking, Sea, Art, Wine!

This bike trip included so many of the things we love: touring on two wheels, ancient historic towns, wine, Spanish food and art of the region.
We self-guided using the excellent map and GPS provided which helped facilitate fun side trips and stops, then returning to the established routes. Navigation was easy for all, even the one among us who is directionally challenged!
The hotels each had great character, charm and comforts, and we enjoyed the two 2-night stay overs where day trips were planned.
The Spanish individuals we met were friendly and welcoming. Using our basic tourist level Spanish helped us be polite and friendly in return.
The countryside scenery, small towns and roads/trails were great! Food and wine throughout this Catalonia region were excellent and fair priced.

Beautiful Villages and Stunning Sea!

I recently did the self-guided trip as a mom and son getaway with my 14-year old. We did this on e-bikes. Daniel was kind and thoughtful and checked in on us along the way via text. He was on time for bike delivery and super organized, setting us up for success. The hotels selected were great even though we booked last minute. Each of our rooms along the mediterranean had views of the Sea which was stunning and exceeded our expectations. My son managed the GPS and all of the navigating and we had an easy time of this. The route itself was wonderful! A great mix of medieval and coast and I wonder if the tour title should give more emphasis to the time spent along the coast, which was absolutely beautiful! I was sad to leave Llafranc and put the sea behind us, but this was quickly replaced with fascination at the beauty of the small villages. Overall, this was a wonderful adventure. The weather was superb and the towns were not crowded with tourists (late June). I do recommend the e-bikes if you have varying levels of experience and want to stray off the tour routes at all to bike uphill to other towns not on the tour route. We had more than enough time and energy to add things like this because of the benefit of the pedal-assist.

Very good tour

The tour was great, Daniel was extremely helpful, and the accommodation was very good. However, the tour should not be rated as easy. The first two days were easy, and it was no problem using a normal bike. However, for the next four days we should have rented electric bikes - it would have made the trip much more enjoyable. It was obvious the seventh day was over the mountains and would be difficult, but did not ever plan to cycle that day, as we only had six days available.

Spain is very bike friendly and the bikes/ (and pedal assist e-bikes) were of great quality. The Hotels on this trip were very comfortable and provided nice breakfasts. The rides each day were moderate as described. On the first 3 days , you ride alongside beach views. After that, you do some countryside rides. On every ride and evening there were a bunch of outside cafes to choose from. It was an excellent mix of scenery. Thanks.

Such a great trip!

We were hesitant to take a non-guided tour at first, but it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. The roots were interesting and the directions were great, and we got to take all of the roots on our own time and our own schedule. The hotels were wonderful, and the routes through the different seaside towns and medieval villages were fantastic! Daniel was communicative, responsive, and really helpful. Could not have been a happier with our trip!

The information we were provided with prior to setting out - plus the GPS navigation tool - made us feel very comfortable and in control of our time each day. Daniel, our host, provided outstanding service - starting with an excellent briefing in Girona at the beginning of the tour - and everything he promised was delivered on or exceeded. The distances each day on the e-bikes were very achievable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. The luggage transfers were seamless. The accommodation was excellent each night! Not five star - but beautiful locations and very comfortable. Overall, I highly recommend the tour.

Beautiful bike trip!

This is my second European bike trip with bike tours and it was even better than the first. Daniel from Creative Catalonia really went above and beyond. He met us at our hotel with the bikes, a reusable bag, water bottles, a map and a GPS. He made sure the bikes fit us and that we knew where to start. He was a very thoughtful communicator. The bike rides are low mileage but it is hilly, with gorgeous views. The rides are mostly on bike trails with about 30% being packed dirt/gravel. The gps was awesome and Daniel included places of where to stop to see interesting sites, recommendations for lunches or dinners, etc. His recommendations were great and very appreciated. The hotels that we stayed in were lovely and we really enjoyed them.
My only tip to bikers would be to bring your own helmet. I used the one provided which was sufficient but it didn’t have mips technology which is really standard for helmets in the US and would be the safest.
And for bike tours & Daniel — I’d suggest figuring out an alternative for the ride from Monells to Girona if you’re concerned about the safety of the bikers. I would have loved another day of biking and near the sea.
This was a great tour, lovely hotels, nice e-bikes, fabulous recommendations, easy to use GPS, I would highly recommend this tour. We went in mid September and the weather was hot and beautiful.

Wine Country Tour

Much better than expected, we did the self guided option. Pick up was on time, the bikes were great and the route map and directions were easy to follow.
Most roads were quiet and the hotels selected were superb. It was unforgettable and I will definitely do another one with this tour group.

Amazing tour. Just as advertised

We had a fantastic time. Simon obviously has this tour down to a science. Everything was exactly as advertised. We loved the rural roads and small hotels we stayed in. We found the Terrain stunning. There were some challenging hills but overall anyone with a reasonable level of fitness would have no difficulty with this trip. I would book with this tour company again.

Beautiful countryside in Northern Spain!

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour through the countryside along the Ebro River -- the terrain varied from the hills at the river's source, through beautiful canyons and into the broad valleys of the Rioja. The hotels were wonderful, with hosts who were friendly, helpful and provided great dinners. Our bikes were in perfect condition. Overall, this trip exceeded our expectations. This is Northern Spain, so more clouds likely, but it only actually rained one day of the ride. Morning cool and clouds turned to afternoon sun and warmth. Perfect biking weather.

Glorious wine country

What a fabulous country Spain is! We loved this tour. May is an excellent time to enjoy this area. Ibero Cycle gave us an incredibly thorough briefing before heading off and were available throughout if any problems came up. The roads we traveled were without cars even though we were sharing the road. Unbelievably quiet roads and stunning scenery. Small little villages were at our days end and accommodations were clean and comfortable. The terrain was mixed and many hills over the course of the week but we enjoyed every challenge. Arriving to Haro and then on to LaGuardia were real wine country. I would even suggest an extra night in LaGuardia to enjoy some more of the local sights and wine tours. Beautiful trip! Thank you Bike Tours for another great and memorable experience.
