Sweden’s West Coast  Helsingborg To Gothenburg Bike Tour Reviews (page 2)

    A Swedish Delight

We really enjoyed this late June trip on the west coast of Sweden. It was well organized, very scenic, lovely towns and hotels. Excellent restaurants and beer to be found along the way. Cycling is not difficult. Would recommend.

    An enjoyable ride.

We really liked the ride. The people we met were wonderful. For the most part we avoided the nasty weather. The food was really good and a bit of a pleasant surprise. The only negative was one of the ebikes controls was tie wrapped on. It also gave a number of warnings and then just shut down. It always restarted but was a worry. The bike seat was more of an old cruiser style and not very comfortable. The shot version of the ride from Varberg to Kungsbuka said you could ride to Ass and catch a train. There was only one train at Ass and it took you back to Varberg plus it was late afternoon.

    Along the coast

Good pacing and choice of ride legs, towns and hotels. Need to improve quality of bike saddle-too hard.

    Could have been better

The ride was generally good. The route was relatively remote with few points to stop and places along the route to interact with the citizen of the areas visited. Poor preparation of the e-bikes two of the 6 bikes were not at the pick up location and not properly charged. The first day was difficult riding heavy bikes without power. Very disappointing start to our trip.

Hotel accommodations were fair. The opening property was excellent, while the balance were two and three star quality properties. That said, all the people at the hotels and the bike rental location were friendly and helpful. I would have welcomed better hotel locations and would be willing to pay more. Self-guided does not need to be budget.

In general, of the other guided and self-guided rides in Europe this ride was 4th of 4.

Long days cycling and variable hotels

The Swedish coast was beautiful and the people so friendly and helpful. The distances between hotels were too long even on e-bikes. We felt we didn’t get enough time to sightsee and explore each day. Hotels were variable
Elite molberg in Helsingborg was excellent
Best western angelholm room small and dark hotel hard to find.
    Profilhotel halmstad lovely big room
Hotel hamnagartan was very poor room tiny and not used to e bikes. Gravel made moving bikes and suitcases difficult
    Varbergstadshotel excellent
Best western Halland helpful staff but could not get bikes into their garage as no step free access
Elite plaza Gothenburg was good but annoying to have to take the bikes back to comfort hotel where the staff didn’t seem
    To
Know what to do with them
