France Bike Tours

Diverse, Elegant & Idyllic

France is one of the world’s premier cycling destinations, and not just because of the Tour de France! From its vineyard-covered valleys and medieval villages to its dramatic coastlines and alpine roads, France rewards cyclists with diverse and unforgettable experiences.

A bike tour in France can take you through the château-dotted Loire Valley, the lavender fields of Provence, the celebrated vineyards of Bordeaux, through Paris, the ‘City of Light’, and along the Mediterranean coastline. The inexhaustible variety of its culture, world-renowned cuisine, and ideal biking landscapes make France one of our travelers’ favorite locations year after year.

  • What makes France a great destination for a bike tour?

France combines exceptional cycling routes with world-famous food, wine, history, and scenery. Cyclists can ride through vineyard-covered landscapes, explore medieval villages and grand châteaux, and follow scenic river valleys throughout the country. France also offers unique bike and boat experiences, including journeys along the Seine that combine relaxed cruising with immersive cycling through some of the country's most beautiful landscapes.

  • When is the best time to take a bike tour in France?

The best time for a France bike tour is spring (April to June) or fall (September to October), when temperatures range from 18–26°C / 64–79°F and crowds tend to be smaller.

If you’re taking an alpine or coastal tour, summer is your best season. If seeking a holiday in winter, southern France will provide warm temperatures.

  • Are France bike tours suitable for beginners?

Yes, many cycling routes in France are flat and well-marked, making them excellent choices for beginners. In particular, the Loire Valley and the Alsace are perfectly suited for beginner bike trips. E-bikes and support vehicles are also often available.
