Tuscany bicycle tours

At a glance

Tuscany is known for its beautiful landscapes, artistic history and cultural influence. The cultural heritage, which predates the Middle Ages, is expressed in Tuscany's numerous churches, palaces, galleries, museums, and villages.

Gourmet cuisine and superb local wines are also a draw to the region. Vast farmlands cover much of Tuscany’s hilly and fertile countryside.

Why cyclists love it

The mild climate, lush vineyards, and welcoming warmth of the Tuscan people are just a few reasons cyclists love to take their holidays in Tuscany. Cycling routes in Tuscany are diverse, and are good for cyclists of most levels – from healthy novices to advanced riding. The routes traverse plains along the rivers and coasts, rolling countryside and steep terrain in the mountains.

Ample cycling opportunities exist on secondary and country roads as well as on frequent farm paths and rural routes. The region is so popular for cycling, that there is a sense of community among cycling enthusiasts. If you find yourself in trouble along the road, you can count on other cyclists to assist you.

Another benefit of cycle touring in Tuscany is that practically every small town or village offers public fountains where you can have a quick drink and refill your water bottle—and ice cream and pastry shops to replenish any used calories! While the weather is good year-round, the best time to plan your visit is from March to June and from September to October.
