  • Bike in Central Bohemia including Prague, the vineyards of the Elbe and the Vltava and Elbe Canyons

Get ready to embark on an amazing 8-day bike and boat tour around Prague! You will get to explore the stunning river landscapes of the Moldova and Elbe Rivers, experience culture and history, and see some seriously incredible sights!

You can start things off with a guided tour of Prague, checking out all the must-see spots, like Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and Prague Castle. This is a tour led by locals, and nobody knows the city better than those who live there!

You then head into the surroundings to experience the beauty of the Czech countryside in all its glory, as well as the unique architecture of each historic town such as Kralupy, Mělník, Litoměřice, and Mlčechvosty.

The darker side of 20th-century history is revealed as well at the former Nazi concentration camp Terezin (Theresienstadt). This was a transit camp for Czech Jews heading to death camps or onward to "labor camps". In German propaganda at the time, Terezin was described as a spa town, where elderly German Jews could "retire" in safety. This a somber and deeply moving place ensures the victims are never forgotten.

You have two routes available each day - one for those who want an easier ride along the riverside, and another for those who want a more challenging route and to explore some off-the-beaten-path spots.

So, what are you waiting for? Time to hit the road (and river)!

     Tour Description Daily Program

  • Daily program

    Day 1: Arrival in Prague
This day is yours to explore the "Paris of Central Europe", you will want to fully explore its beauty and hidden corners. You board the boat in the afternoon (around 4pm) and enjoy the first dinner. Enjoy a peaceful walk this evening to view the Prague Castle, which is illuminated in the evening providing you with a stunning display of Czech architecture.

    Day 2: Prague - Kralupy (18 miles/28 km)
Begin today being fitted for your bike before beginning your first cycle tour alongside the Vltava River by way of Troja, where you will see the stunning Baroque castle, Troja Palace, which now houses the National Art Gallery. Continue following along the river through the villages of Klecánky, Drasty, and Vodochody before reaching the final destination for tonight, Kralupy.

    Day 3: Kralupy - Mêlnik - Litoměřice (16 miles/25 km)
After breakfast, around 9 a.m., we will take out the bike again. You will cycle – almost always along the Vltava River – to Nelahozeves, one of the most famous Renaissance castles of Bohemia, also known as the “little Louvre of Czechia”. Then continue through the Veltrusý Park, with numerous sculptures and gazebos in an extensive terrain, up to the royal town of Mělník. In the early afternoon return to the ship and enjoy the boat trip on the Elbe River to Litoměřice.

    Day 4: Litoměřice - Ústí nad Labem - Litoměřice (29 miles/47 km)
Today you will discover the royal town of Litoměřice. Thought to be among the most beautiful Czech towns, the buildings in the town center flaunt colourful Renaissance and Baroque architecture alongside well-preserved Gothic fortifications. You will have a chance to visit the Baroque Cathedral of St Stephen atop the dome hill or the bishop’s residence. You might also be interested in an individual visit to the Terezín Memorial in the village of Terezín. The concentration camp memorial is located only 5 km away.

For more advanced cyclists looking for a challenge, the scenic bike tour to the castle Střekov may interest you! The castle and café are idyllically situated in the narrow valley of the Elbe River. This route will pass through the famed wine-growing region, through the small village of Velké Žernoseky, past the Bohemian Gate - the transition from the Elbe Sandstone Mountains to the Bohemian Uplands - to Střekov Castle. From here you will have a magnificent view of the Elbe River and the surrounding mountains. Afterwards you will cycle back to Litoměřice, where your ship will anchor for the night.

    Day 5: Litoměřice- Roudnice - Mlčechvosty (27 miles/43 km)
Early in the morning, the ship will journey to Roudnice. Today, the route will mostly follow the Elbe River. You will pass through the towns of Dobřín, Račice and Vliněves before returning to Mělník. From the top of the castle hill you can relish the panoramic view of the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe River before continuing on to Mlčechvosty.

    Day 6: Mlčechvosty - Prague (26 miles/42 km)
Today you can choose to relax on board, soaking up the sun on the deck or cycle through Nelahozeves, Kralupy, Vodochody, Drasty and Klecánky to Prague. Once you arrive in Prague, you have the afternoon to explore the city at your leisure.

    Day 7: Prague - Zbraslav - Prague (19 miles/31 km)
Today you have enough time to discover the right bank of the Vltava River, the highlights of the Old Town, the New Town and the Jewish Quarter. Or just meander along the streets or sitting in one of the cafes and watch as life continues on the Old Town Square. There are countless possibilities! In case you feel like cycling, make a tour upstream along Vltava River to Zbraslav and back. A trip to Vyṧehrad Castle is worthwhile. It was built, probably in the 10th century, on a hill over the Vltava River. Local legend holds that Vyṧehrad was the location of the first settlement which later became Prague.

    Day 8: Departure
Disembark after breakfast and individual departure.

    Surface and terrain

You will cycle on paved or asphalted cycleways, on very lightly-trafficked agricultural roads as well as on unpaved trails leading through forests or fields. There will also be short legs along heavy-trafficked roads.
