    • Uncover Krakow's communist past

Krakow, along with the rest of Poland, endured decades of oppressive communist rule which restricted the residents of Krakow in myriad aspects of their lives. Take the guided bike tour that tells the moving story of communist Krakow, whilst enjoying the benefits of bike rental and a family-friendly day tour suitable for children.

You’ll pedal first along the peaceful Vistula River on your approach to the old military airbase and Aviation Museum, home to one of the world’s oldest airfields. Ride on to the Church of Our Lord’s Ark, a truly remarkable feat of architecture achieved solely by local volunteers, without any aid from the government. Built in its iconic ark shape, the façade features 2 million stones, all hand-laid and cemented by locals between 1967–1977.

Cycle to Lenin’s steel mill plant and learn of the fascinating bomb shelter beneath the ground where all articles are still intact, left exactly as they were in the 1950s. The mill, which once employed nearly 40,000 workers, was nicknamed the ‘Kombinat’. Riding into Ronald Reagan Square, learn of the role played by the former US President in ending communist rule, leading to the square being renamed in 2004 in recognition, and Reagan becoming an honorary resident of this incredible city.

An informative, historical bicycle tour of Krakow's troubled past.
