This route is named after a breathtaking mountain range, but you don't have to worry! You cycle through the valleys along the rivers “Salzach” and “Saalach.” The trail is mostly flat, though the bike path has a decline of 750m from your starting point Krimml to the destination in Passau. Every day you will see scenic highlights of landscape and culture, like our snow-covered mountains with a height of 3,000 meters.
You will be impressed by this magical landscape, and your cultural expectations will absolutely be satisfied. Riparian forests, small villages and the Inn River characterize the second part to the three-river city of Passau. The magnificent and breath-taking bike trip will make you forget the daily routine of your everyday life. Recovery effect is promised.

All 3 riding days were superb in displaying God's magnificence. Day 2, Zell am See to Lofer, was definitely the best of the 3 days. Hotels were superb in every way, even accommodating our request for gluten free and lactose free options for my wife at breakfast. Gasthof Hochmoos in Lofer is my all time favorite hotel in Europe, from accommodations to scenery and location. An easy downhill ride, but e-bikes make the trip more leisurely for any level of biker. Daily Program
Day 1: Krimml
In Krimml you find the largest waterfall in Europe. On a well-designed trail you can admire this natural spectacle. Your bikes will be available at the booked accommodation.

Day 2: Krimml – Kaprun/Zell am See
40 miles/65 km
Your tour goes through the National Park Hohe Tauern and Oberpinzgau, where you will constantly see snow-covered mountains with an altitude of 3,000 metres. On this trail you will have a fabulous backdrop of lush green meadows and small villages. In Kaprun you can visit the high-mountain reservoir, Hochgebirgsstauseen.

Day 3: Kaprun/Zell am See – Lofer

At "Zeller See" (Lake Zeller) you can take a refreshing bath or, if you are a very active cyclist, you can cycle an extra round. You will cycle through Maria Alm with its famous pilgrimage church. On the lunch break you can enjoy Saalfelden. Other highlights on your way to Lofer are the Seisenbergklamm and Lamprechtshöhe near Weißenbach.

Day 4: Lofer – Salzburg
31 miles/50 km
Today will lead you mostly through the Saalachtal. Bad Reichenhall in the "small German angle" will enchant you with Bavarian flair. After a short distance, you will have reached Salzburg, the city of Mozart. You should allow yourself enough extra time for a stroll through the city and a visit to Mozart´s birth house.

Day 5: Salzburg – Burghausen

You will leave Salzburg and its Alps. On this route you are cycling through the foothills of the Alps. The "Tauern" ends in Tittmoning and from here you have to follow the trail along the Lower Inn before you will reach your destination Burghausen. It is a magnificent old town and has the largest castle complex in Central Europe.

Day 6: Burghausen – Obernberg am Inn/Bad Füssing

Today you cycle along the river Inn up to Braunau. This town is perfect for taking a lunch break. On your way you will likely see numerous bird colonies. From here you can follow the bike path on the Bavarian or Austrian side. Your destination Obernberg has a well-known marketplace with Baroque buildings.

Day 7: Obernberg am Inn/Bad Füssing – Passau
27 miles/40 km
You will soon reach Stift Reichersberg, which is worth a visit. On your route along the Inn River you will cycle through small towns like Schärding. At its Baroque market square you can take a break. Not far and you will have reached the final destination of this beautiful bike trip: Passau. The three-river city has much to offer. In the cathedral of Passau you will see the largest church organ in the world. A river-cruise would certainly be a grand finale of this wonderful bike ride.

Electrically-assisted bike
Pedelec, unisex frame
A Pedelec is an electric bike which assists with electric support only when pedalling. Composed on the basis of KTM-bikes, this bike is more than adequate for the routes. The bike is easy to handle as you have a good weight distribution and a low balance point. Overall weight amounts to approx. 23 kg. An illuminated LCD display, a computer and a wattage display add to the comfort. You cycle with 28 inch-bikes, three different modes guarantee a maximum fun of cycling.

Accessories
Bikes will be equipped with the following at no additional charge:

- Handlebar bag (water-repellent), with clear cover on top for easy map viewing (not for gravel bike)

Pedals:
The bikes will have flat pedals. If you want to bring your own pedals, please bring your own shoes and also the necessary equipment to change the pedals. Toe cages are not available to rent.
Seats:
If you plan to bring your own seat, please make sure it will be compatible with a 27.2 to 31.4 mm seat post. If necessary, you may also need to bring your own adapter. The tour company will assist in switching the seat post for you.
Helmets:
Helmets are not included with the bike rentals. You can buy or rent a helmet from the tour company (check the extra options in the pricing chart). You must let us know your helmet preference upon booking. If you do not rent or buy a helmet through the tour company, we recommend you bring your own.

Surface and terrain
The bicycle route runs mostly flat along the banks of the Salzach and Inn Rivers. The route leads through quiet and paved paths and country roads and is continuously signposted in utmost detail. Only occasionally you will be on more traveled routes, often where you are entering or leaving a town. A few short stages will be on unpaved paths, but they are few and far between. Occasionally the terrain with undulate but overall there is a total loss of 750 meters from Krimml to Passau.
The tour route is mainly on dedicated bicycle paths (about 80% of the time). The remainder of the tour is on quiet roads and dirt or gravel roads. This tour is suitable for families with children so long the family is also accustomed to navigating portions of trafficked roads and crossings.
