Will I see the Northern Lights on my Sweden bike tour?

As Sweden's cycling season coincides with the endless summer light phenomenon, the May to September months can be challenging for witnessing the Northern Lights.
However, there is a short window when cycling can be combined with viewing the Northern Lights here – in late August to late September. In this window, the nights begin to get dark again and there is a chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis in Swedish Lapland (e.g. around Kiruna, Abisko, and Jokkmokk).
Unfortunately, the lights are unpredictable and sightings can't be guaranteed! The best chance of seeing the lights is in the winter (October to March), but we do not recommend cycling in Sweden's often treacherous winter conditions.
