Experience the highlights of the ‘Capital of Europe’ on a compact bike tour

Experience the very best of the ‘Capital of Europe’ on this 2.5-hour Strasbourg bike tour — a guided day tour designed to showcase the city’s most iconic landmarks efficiently and beautifully by bicycle.

Start out in the Place d’Austerlitz, known for its iconic statue of Napoleon Bonaparte and ‘Napoleon’s Grotto’ where the celebrated military leader spent his childhood playing with friends.

From here, ride to the Palais Rohan, the former residence of the ancient French House of Rohan nobles. Sitting in the shadows of the famous Strasbourg Cathedral, this incredible palace is renowned as a masterpiece of French Baroque architecture.

Then, pedal onwards to the Parc de l’Orangerie, a pristine city park loved for its tranquil boating lake, water birds, and gorgeous flora.

This Strasbourg cycling tour then brings you into the heart of the European Quarter: the European Parliament, Council of Europe, and European Court of Human Rights. These world-central institutions are responsible for some of the most significant decisions in global politics, and their influential atmosphere is not lost on tourists to this space.

From this political hub, ride onwards to the Place de la République, a main square in Strasbourg sided by five commanding and beautiful buildings: the Palais du Rhin, the National and University Library, the Théâtre National de Strasbourg, the Préfecture of Grand Est and Bas-Rhin, and the tax center Hôtel des impôts. Each of these impressive buildings is classified by the French government as ‘monuments historiques’.

Cycle onwards to the famous Strasbourg Cathedral, once the world’s tallest building (from 1647–1874). At 142m tall, it is still the highest medieval structure in Europe! The Cathédral Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg is considered to be one of the world’s finest examples of Rayonnant Gothic architecture, and you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice when it comes to an iconic photo opportunity.

Pedal onwards from the cathedral to the most picturesque part of the whole of Strasbourg – Petite France – famed for its charming half-timbered houses, medieval cobblestone streets, and the majestic presence of the towering Notre-Dame Cathedral. The enchanting riverside scenes here provide a gorgeous finale to your day tour as you wrap up your adventure at the iconic viewpoint of the beautiful Covered Bridges.
