     Tour Description Daily Program

  • Daily program

Day 1: Arrival in Valencia & transfer to Albarracín
Following a transfer from Valencia, your adventure begins in Albarracín, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often regarded as one of Spain’s most beautiful villages. Nestled on red sandstone cliffs and surrounded by the Guadalaviar River, this medieval town feels like stepping back in time. Its pink-hued buildings and narrow streets reflect centuries of Moorish and Christian influence. Spend the day exploring the 10th-century castle, wandering its winding streets, and enjoying traditional Aragonese cuisine.

    Day 2: Albarracín - Teruel (30 miles / 48 km)
Today’s ride takes you through the pine forests of Los Pinares de Rodeno, famous for prehistoric cave paintings and scenic lookouts. You’ll pass through quiet villages like Bezas and Campillo before reaching Teruel, a UNESCO-listed city celebrated for its Mudéjar architecture, a blend of Islamic and Christian styles. Highlights include the Torre del Salvador, the Cathedral of Santa María, and the legendary tale of the "Lovers of Teruel".

    Day 3: Teruel - Estación Mora (29 miles / 46 km)
Start your day cycling through the pine forests of Sierra Javalambre, descending into Puebla de Valverde. From here, join the Ojos Negros Greenway, Spain’s longest cycling trail, which follows a former railway line through oak groves and over historic bridges. Arrive in Estación Mora, known for its world-famous black truffles, where you can join a truffle hunt (seasonal) and sample these delicacies. In the evening, enjoy stargazing under some of Spain’s clearest night skies.

    Day 4: Estación Mora - Segorbe (42 miles / 67 km)
Pedal along a downhill stretch of the Ojos Negros Greenway, passing through the Albentosa Tunnel and enjoying panoramic views from the viaducts. Ride through the El Palancar forest and stop in Navajas to admire the El Salto de la Novia waterfall, steeped in local legend. Finish the day in Segorbe, a historic town with a medieval aqueduct, a Gothic cathedral, and plenty of cultural charm.

    Day 5: Segorbe - Canet (27 miles / 44 km)
Cycle through inland villages like Algimia de Alfara and Torres-Torres, where you can stop for a traditional wood-fired paella lunch. The route continues through the Sierra Calderona Natural Park, eventually reaching Canet d’En Berenguer. This coastal town is known for its Blue Flag beaches, tranquil lagoons, and seaside promenade.

    Day 6: Canet - Valencia (29 miles / 47 km)
Follow scenic coastal trails and cycle through orange groves as you make your way to Valencia. Along the route, stop in El Puig for a taste of local cuisine before arriving in the city. Valencia offers a mix of history and modernity, with iconic landmarks like the City of Arts and Sciences, the historic Silk Exchange, and the Turia Riverbed Park.

    Day 7: Valencia - Albufeira Natural Park - Valencia (20 miles / 32 km)
Spend your last full day cycling through the Albufeira Natural Park, a landscape of wetlands, rice fields, and wildlife. Stop in the fishing village of El Palmar to savor local dishes like All i Pebre or take a relaxing boat ride on the lagoon. Return to Valencia for a final evening enjoying its lively atmosphere and incredible cuisine.

    Day 8: Departure from Valencia
Your journey concludes in Valencia, but the city’s history, culture, and fantastic food make it an excellent place to extend your stay.

Very fun way to experience a deeper part of Spain

We are two women and we chose this self-guided tour on e-bikes as it was in the location that worked for our traveling schedules and we liked that it would take us from the mountains to the sea. E-bikes for us were the way to go as it gave it ease when we wanted it and challenge if we wished to work a little harder. Almost all the biking is through scenic areas with low to no traffic (along the greenways) and from higher elevations with beautiful green forests and valleys, to the lower lands with olives, truffles and oranges. We really enjoyed the variety of scenery even within a single ride, and loved stopping along the way in villages or at little restaurants to sit and enjoy. All the accommodations were better than expected so we were pleasantly surprised by this along with delicious buffet breakfasts at every location. The only part of the trip that was less enjoyable was getting into Canet you have to ride through some pretty industrial parts (though on a well marked bike path) but on the main road which was different; and again riding through the streets (again an incredible network of bike paths!) in Valencia. In Rubielos de Mora the hotel was especially awesome and they had an excellent Spa that we took full advantage of (for an extra fee). Albarracin is an amazing old city that we also thoroughly enjoyed. The local company was excellent as well with logistics and routes. All in all it was a super fun adventure and I can highly recommend it!

      TIPS:
Download the Ride with GPS App and learn how to use it before your trip so you can receive and use the gpx files that give you the routes. Make sure to download the routes each day for OFFLINE use.
      Bring biking gloves
Once you have the routes is super easy to find your way.
They give you a paneer and a bike kit but only one bike was fitted with the phone holder ~ maybe request one for each bike so you all have access to the route and easy access to a camera. We took a lot of photos but it was hard to access the second camera as the paneers have no outside pocket.
We needed a lot of sunscreen and layered clothing.
In Canet call ahead of time and ask for a room with a sea view.
If you are sensitive to traffic noise ~ in Valencia ask for a room high up and away from the main street or better yet maybe they can book you an accommodation in the Old City: Same for Teruel. The other towns are small and quieter.
You are responsible for your bikes during the trip so make sure they are always in a safe location.

      Take your time and enjoy!
