These are the gates through which glided the conquering Ottoman, Sultan Suleiman, in his 1522 conquest of Rhodes.

Your bicycle tour carries on to the Holy Catholic Cathedral of Saint Francis of Assisi, a curious cathedral built in the Rationalist style and finished in 1939. Ride on to the Acropolis of Rhodes atop Monte Smith, an archeological site wherein some of the world’s most important monuments once stood, including the Temple of Athena Polias, Zeus Polieus, and the Temple of Apollo, as well as an ancient stadium, odeon, and gymnasium.
