· Castles and Wines of Portugal
The tour company provided excellent service on our guided, group tour in early November. My wife and I were the only two people on the tour, but the tour went ahead with a van and at least two guides every day. Our tour was at the end of the dry season and the landscape was parched. We encountered some rain but most of the time the weather was excellent for cycling. The tour company was very good at accommodating customers bringing their own bike. The company's ebikes also were very good bikes for the terrain. I highly recommend this tour.

Perfect way to experience Spain. The local organizer did an awesome job, logistics ran pefectly with luggage transfers and accommodations. The itineraries each day were as described and there was a good mix of riding and sights to see along the way, with food and drink options marked accordingly.

★★★★★ Wade C. 4 weeks agoGreat tour of 3 different countries!
· Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps
This was our second tour with biketours.com. While we did enjoy this itinerary, we preferred our first one, Switzerland Geneva to Lucerne. That being said, I was certainly happy with this trip, the Dolomites region was great, I particularly liked Dobbiaco, Travisio, and Cividale. We had an extra day in Dobbiaco at the start of our trip, which was a good decision. We opted for only one day in Bled, which we also think was a good decision - the lake and town, while beautiful, are a little too touristy for our taste. The optional climbs, leaving Oberdrauberg and entering Bled, were not as difficult as we had imagined and we were glad to have done them. We also chose the hinterland route into Trieste, which was good. Some of the hotels where we stayed in were in cities that were quite small with not much to do, or in the case of Gradisca, was on busy roads and we had to get back on our bikes to get to a walk-able area of the city, which was not great. Especially once in the flat, wine regions of Italy, it felt like we were on more roads and gravel than bike paths than we would have liked. Regarding navigation, the app was excellent, we had no issues whatsoever. Do pack an extra battery bank to charge your phone. We also brought shoe covers for when it rained which we were grateful to have brought. Despite some caveats, overall a great trip!

· UNESCO Sites of Albania
The tour, although a group of 22, was well-organized, orderly and congenial. The Guide and Driver/Bike Mechanic were experienced, knowledgeable and patient. The route gave a good overview of the South’s historical sites and the guide’s pride in his homeland was charming. Riding a regular bike, one of 4 (the other 18 were on e-bikes), I never felt left behind and always had enough time to rest at our regular stops. The restaurants served delicious, nutritious meals to fuel us and the route was largely on quiet roads with challenging, but not too daunting ascents and exhilarating descents.

★★★★★ Keith M. 1 month agoThe Best Way to Experience the Countryside Between Innsbruck and Vienna
· Innsbruck to Salzburg: Through the Alps Along River Cycle Trails
This was a very well organized and well thought out way to experience the beautiful countryside between Innsbruck and Vienna. Chris at the bicycle rental shop in Innsbruck was very helpful and provided us with handlebar mounts for our phones to easily view GPS tracks, bicycle repair tools (including tire levers, spare inner tube, patch kit, hand pump, and CO2 inflator) and lock and pannier bags. Bicycles have been well maintained and were well suited for this tour. My wife used an e-bike whereas I used a 24 speed hybrid bicycle with a triple crankset giving me a wide range of gearing just in case it got hilly. Accommodations were good, mostly lodging facilities intended for winter skiing, with very good European breakfasts and excellent Austrian coffee. Our luggage was always available at the hotel when we arrived. I am 70 years old and have toured by bicycle throughout the United Staes since my teenage years but I found this tour far more enjoyable since the route we took was mostly on paved or crushed stone bicycle paths without auto traffic to deal with (in the United States I have bicycled through many beautiful national and state parks but have always had to deal with automobile traffic making it more difficult to enjoy the natural beauty). On this tour there are a few miles (but only a few miles) where we did need to ride with auto traffic in the cities. There are also some backroads and roads through neighborhoods that have very little auto traffic. There were a few very minor hiccups with the GPS tracks and the bicycle path signage. Although we found the GPS tracks very useful, on very rare occasion there were times that the GPS tracks did not perfectly match with the bicycle path signage which led to a little confusion but this was easily resolved after checking Google Maps. It was great that a shuttle was provided from Zell am Ziller to Krimml since the highway between these two towns is fairly steep and narrow with lots of auto traffic. The shuttle also got us to Krimml in time for us to hike up to the Krimml waterfalls. It was also nice that the shuttle took us to a higher elevation which resulted in a down hill coast on our bicycles the next morning. We were fortunate to have a layover day in Zell am See since it was the only day to rain on this tour. Although we are comfortable riding in the rain it is something we like to avoid which can be challenging to do in Austria. There were also a couple of minor hiccups with our lodging but these were quickly resolved by a phone call to Helmut Wagner, the bicycle tour operator. When we arrived at the hotel in Zell am See there was no one at the reception desk and we later found out we needed to go to the hotel next door to check in. When we arrived in at the hotel in Salzburg we were told by the reception personnel that we would need to pay for our room but again a phone call to Helmut Wagner quickly resolved this issue. I mention these minor inconveniences so one is prepared to be flexible and not to panic since these issues are easily resolved. Overall, the experience was most enjoyable and the scenery amazing. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone that enjoys bicycle touring through very scenic mountain valleys and historic towns. I am thankful that biketours.com has vetted this tour and made it easy and affordable to experience. The personnel at biketours.com were very helpful with the booking of this tour and patiently answered all of my questions. I will definitely book future European bicycle tours through biketours.com. ★★★★★ margaret c 1 month agonice trip, beautiful countryside
· Best of Slovenia: Highlights Across the Country From Bled to Piran
beautiful countryside, cycling nice, trip about 3 days too long, some of the places we visited though pleasant had little of interest. the accommodation was 3 star quality all the way apart from perhaps Piran and Bled. the M hotel as mentioned in many previous posts is a disappointment in Ljubljana as it is too far out of town which ruined the evening there.

★★★★★ MB 1 month agoAlbania welcomes you!
· UNESCO Sites of Albania
This was an enjoyable ride with some absolutely gorgeous mountain ranges and coastlines. There are no bike baths on this ride except for the first day. The rest of the time you are on roads with varying degrees of vehicle traffic. Rarely a car in sight in the country but they are constant along the coast and towns. Accommodations were relatively modest but clean. If you are looking for 4 star hotels and amenities it won't be on this trip. Every lodge had a continental breakfast, some were definitely better than others. The visit to the monastery of St. Naum was worth the extra ride the first day. 2nd day ride to Korçë was decent not overwhelming. However, thanks to a tip from Lilliana at the Hotel we had dinner at a delicious steak house called "Repulika". Off a little side street with not so great signage. Best meal of the whole trip. The best part of the day 3 ride to Sotire was the last 3 or 4 mile climb up into the forest. The cabins were a treat and being way out in the country was delightful. The ride to Permet was when the mountains came into full view. Beautiful ride. Would recommend riding to the Stone Bridge to check out the thermal pools which are about 4 miles past the lodging. The word thermal is a misnomer. If you have time, take a long walk past the bridge up through the canyon to get away from the crowd around the bridge. The ride to Gjirokaster was manageable and relatively car free. However when getting closer to town the vehicle traffic increased. Gjirokaster is a pretty touristy enclave. The castle is worth the visit if only for the views. Sarande & Himare were beautiful seaside towns. Sarande was larger and had more bustle to it. If you are planning a layover day you can take a day ferry over to Corfu. We prefered Himare, but the city center was a short bike ride from the hotel. All in all I would recommend this trip. It had a great range of topography from farmlands to forest to mountains to coastlines. I would highly recommend an ebike unless you are in superior shape. No fun pedaling with your head down for hours on end. Do your work outs at home. You're on vacation! Go now because in 10 years this will be a very different country

This self-guided tour was fantastic. The routes were well planned on lightly trafficked roads. The accommodations exceeded our expectations. And the champagne was extraordinary. We could not be happier with our selection of Bike Tours to provide services to us for our tour. We would not hesitate to recommend the company and this tour to our friends and family.

· UNESCO Sites of Albania
Amazing way to explore Albania. We were self-guided, but the guides were helpful in ensuring communicating with us to ensure that our luggage was being transported. Hotels ranged greatly in quality, some were great, all were adequate. Location of hotels was great as well. Bikes were great quality and had no issues (one flat tire). Biking was on roads, some were quite busy. Would have been nice to have more off road biking, but I'm not sure that Albania has those facilities. First bike tour for all of us, and I would definitely do more.

We had a bit of a slow start with the bicycle company & the bicycles. They were not as prepared as the former bike tour/company we biked with the week before.
The majority of the trails were great! Some gravel, but not bad.
The tour itself was fantastic! The cities and things and places we saw were amazing! The hotels and breakfasts were top notch!!
Convenience of WC was great!

· Medieval Villages of Catalonia
This is my second European bike trip with bike tours and it was even better than the first. Daniel from Creative Catalonia really went above and beyond. He met us at our hotel with the bikes, a reusable bag, water bottles, a map and a GPS. He made sure the bikes fit us and that we knew where to start. He was a very thoughtful communicator. The bike rides are low mileage but it is hilly, with gorgeous views. The rides are mostly on bike trails with about 30% being packed dirt/gravel. The gps was awesome and Daniel included places of where to stop to see interesting sites, recommendations for lunches or dinners, etc. His recommendations were great and very appreciated. The hotels that we stayed in were lovely and we really enjoyed them.
My only tip to bikers would be to bring your own helmet. I used the one provided which was sufficient but it didn’t have mips technology which is really standard for helmets in the US and would be the safest.
And for bike tours & Daniel — I’d suggest figuring out an alternative for the ride from Monells to Girona if you’re concerned about the safety of the bikers. I would have loved another day of biking and near the sea.
This was a great tour, lovely hotels, nice e-bikes, fabulous recommendations, easy to use GPS, I would highly recommend this tour. We went in mid September and the weather was hot and beautiful.- What was the date of your tour?
