The Best Way to Experience the Countryside Between Innsbruck and Vienna
Innsbruck to Salzburg: Through the Alps Along River Cycle Trails
This was a very well organized and well thought out way to experience the beautiful countryside between Innsbruck and Vienna. Chris at the bicycle rental shop in Innsbruck was very helpful and provided us with handlebar mounts for our phones to easily view GPS tracks, bicycle repair tools (including tire levers, spare inner tube, patch kit, hand pump, and CO2 inflator) and lock and pannier bags. Bicycles have been well maintained and were well suited for this tour. My wife used an e-bike whereas I used a 24 speed hybrid bicycle with a triple crankset giving me a wide range of gearing just in case it got hilly. Accommodations were good, mostly lodging facilities intended for winter skiing, with very good European breakfasts and excellent Austrian coffee. Our luggage was always available at the hotel when we arrived. I am 70 years old and have toured by bicycle throughout the United Staes since my teenage years but I found this tour far more enjoyable since the route we took was mostly on paved or crushed stone bicycle paths without auto traffic to deal with (in the United States I have bicycled through many beautiful national and state parks but have always had to deal with automobile traffic making it more difficult to enjoy the natural beauty). On this tour there are a few miles (but only a few miles) where we did need to ride with auto traffic in the cities. There are also some backroads and roads through neighborhoods that have very little auto traffic. There were a few very minor hiccups with the GPS tracks and the bicycle path signage. Although we found the GPS tracks very useful, on very rare occasion there were times that the GPS tracks did not perfectly match with the bicycle path signage which led to a little confusion but this was easily resolved after checking Google Maps. It was great that a shuttle was provided from Zell am Ziller to Krimml since the highway between these two towns is fairly steep and narrow with lots of auto traffic. The shuttle also got us to Krimml in time for us to hike up to the Krimml waterfalls. It was also nice that the shuttle took us to a higher elevation which resulted in a down hill coast on our bicycles the next morning. We were fortunate to have a layover day in Zell am See since it was the only day to rain on this tour. Although we are comfortable riding in the rain it is something we like to avoid which can be challenging to do in Austria. There were also a couple of minor hiccups with our lodging but these were quickly resolved by a phone call to Helmut Wagner, the bicycle tour operator. When we arrived at the hotel in Zell am See there was no one at the reception desk and we later found out we needed to go to the hotel next door to check in. When we arrived in at the hotel in Salzburg we were told by the reception personnel that we would need to pay for our room but again a phone call to Helmut Wagner quickly resolved this issue. I mention these minor inconveniences so one is prepared to be flexible and not to panic since these issues are easily resolved. Overall, the experience was most enjoyable and the scenery amazing. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone that enjoys bicycle touring through very scenic mountain valleys and historic towns. If you’re visiting San Francisco, do not miss this! Golden Gate Park is so much bigger and more varied than I expected — from lush gardens to wild bison, it’s a feast for the senses. Lake Constance Bicycle Path
We had a bit of a slow start with the bicycle company & the bicycles. They were not as prepared as the former bike tour/company we biked with the week before.
The majority of the trails were great! Some gravel, but not bad.
The tour itself was fantastic! The cities and things and places we saw were amazing! The hotels and breakfasts were top notch!!

Worth the return to complete additional Dolomites adventures
Bicycle Paths of the Dolomites (based in one hotel)
It's often said that one cannot return and expect the same or better results. On our second self-guided tour, we accomplished at least three new activities we didn't have time for last year. We took the Toblach/Dobbiaco public bus to Lago de Braies and hiked around the lake (about 2 hours); we rode our bikes from Bruneck/Brunico to Sand in Taufers; and we parked our bikes near the Sol Paradiso Hotel in San Candido and hiked to the Jora Refugio for a delightful lunch and killer views. The Hotel Laurin (again our second stay) was just as lovely, the weather was cooperative (only one rainy day), but the schedule we received had incorrect dates and confusion resulted. In Lienz, we were waiting at the designated place with two other German couples, but no shuttle. After 20 minutes of waiting, one of the Germans called the office and was told the shuttle was on its way. We waited . . . no shuttle. He called again, and we were told we were in the wrong place (all six of us, really)?? We pedaled back to the taxi stand at the Lienz Train statin, where a private taxi with a bike trailer was waiting. The driver didn't even know where we were going (fortunately we were all going back to Toblach). Not sure what happened, but the transfers were either non existent, late or we were told to take the train back (we did this from Bruneck). Not a good look. Made some suggestions for future self-guided tours with transfers with the TO's office.

Love those Dolomites!
Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps
We had a wonderful experience on this trip. The guide was easy to work with and very helpful. There was one route that was closed and not easy to navigate. I would say that is our only criticism - the GPS should have been updated. It made for a long day. Overall, it was just an incredible route.

Bicycle Paths of the Dolomites (based in one hotel)
Loved the hotel and the area. The hotel, the food, the spa - was a highlight. The bike tour group ( manages the bikes and the routes, the shuttles ) is separate from the hotel. The hotel helps with info and also does different guided bike tours ( their bike tours looked more rugged and guided hikes. We took a day off from the planned rides and did a hike - and a bus ride - it was so worth it. Heads up - Make sure you read all the forms and plans from the Biking company. There are the 5 days of rides planned. Two days you are on your own - out and back. One day, the bike company will shuttle you to the start ( the highest point). The other days, they could pick you up at the end of the ride -or you could train in. They decide which day is which and it could change. This was not my first organized bike vacation. I loved being at one hotel, their dinner plan. We got to know the area, the buses, trains to have options. E bikes also made this much easier.

Nice Trip
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)
The lodging was very nice. Provided Meals were good to very good. The provided bike was very good but developed shifting issues and tire rubbing issues as the trip went on. Since some group members got ebike upgrades, the operator worked on mine as he delivered the new bikes.
This trip needs to run in the opposite direction. The prevailing wind is just too strong at times. I was warned of that before the trip but took a chance on it. We really struggled at times. That also took away from the time we had for sightseeing. We wanted to explore sights along the way but didn't have the time as we tried to get to the next town at a reasonable time. If we had been going the opposite direction life would have been lots better. Also, we all paid for dinners, but two of us were told our dinners had not been paid for and we would have to pay for them. After much arguing we got our dinners but it was very awkward and uncomfortable.

Very Beautiful Trip
Prague to Dresden Along the Vltava & Elbe Rivers
Everything went as planned. The route from Prague to Dresden was stunning and each little town had its own charm and history. The hotels/pensions were perfectly nice, and each served a great breakfast to start the day. Bike Tours did a great job transferring the luggage, addressing any equipment issues, and picking great spots for our nightly dinners.

Danube Discovery: Bike and Boat through Enchanting Capitals
We really enjoyed the additional excursions we booked. They were excellent. We are happy we rented e bikes since some of the cycling was longer than we normally do, the assist was a plus! The cycling on our 2nd day proved to be a challenge since we and others got lost several times making us late and miss the tour we had booked for Bratislava.
We found out that if one gets hurt or that their bike breaks down that there isn't any rescue service which would be necessary. All in all the staff was great, the food very good and our room service kept our room nice and clean..

Enjoyable biking tours
Danube Bike Path 8 Nights (Upscale Lodging)
Overall good experience. Had some hiccup pre-departure as the operator made a mistake on our one way transfer from Vienna to Passau and had to find our own transport last min, which we managed. Bikes were good quality and map app was easy to follow with a little help with Google map to get to the hotel sometime. The luggage forwarding was seamless. Some hotels are better than the others. We had a reasonable expectation of the upscale four stars so didn’t anticipate any luxury. They are good clean hotels that covers the basics and most of them are in good location except one due to book-out of the normal one they use.
We feel certain things can be improved but overall is a lovely experience even two days were raining.Overall we feel it was

This was my first biking tour and was such an amazing way to travel from town to town. The route was a mix of bike trail, gravel/dirt roads, and streets. The bikes were in excellent condition and handled the minor off roading with minimal effort. Having our baggage moved from hotel to hotel was seamless and so convenient.

Great route
Innsbruck to Lake Garda Across the Southern Slopes of the Alps
A great route - varied and spectacular scenery. We were very lucky with weather but September is a great month for this trip because of apple and grape harvesting. Hotels were all good with one exception. Breakfasts good also. Bike equipment very good.

A perfect way to see Austria and do it at our own pace. Lodging was outstanding, equipment was better than expected and a very memorable trip! I was disappointed in the bike fitting (cancelled by tour company) and we had concerns and little support for adjustments. The trip did not get off on a good note - otherwise would have been a 5 rating.
