Scenic Ireland
Highlights of the Highlands: Donegal by E-bike
We did a self-guided cycling tour of the hills of County Donegal. We used e-bikes which are highly recommended because of the many hills. We stayed in the nicest small towns and the hosts of our B&Bs were very friendly and kind. The views were spectacular! We highly recommend this tour…. Just be prepared for the hills!

Beautiful scenery!
Salzburg Lakes Tour: Around the Lakes within the Foothills of the Alps
Nice variety of towns and rural countryside. Hills on the last day especially were more like level 4 than level 2 - quite challenging, even on ebikes. Hotels were varying but adequate.

Albania Adventure

I'll start off by saying that overall I had a great trip. However, there were several things that were a disappointment. Starting with the good-the route, the scenery, and the group of people I was with were wonderful. The bad-the guide and the total number of people on the trip. The guide gave virtually no instructions when we first got our bikes. He spent a fair amount of time in the van rather than biking. He spent more time with his "assistant" (who was clearly his girlfriend) than he spent with guests. Except for in one city, he offered virtually no insight into the Albanian culture of the areas we visited. As for the number of people, there were 20 of us on the guided tour and there were another 8 people on the self-guided tour. The self-guided people stayed in the same hotels as us and that caused, on several occasions for the group of 20 to be split up into different hotels. One night in particular, our group was not only split up into two hotels, but I stayed in a separate house (hardly a hotel-more like a hostel) by myself. It was a very uncomfortable night. Had there been fewer than 28 people in total (guided plus self guided) on the trip, this would not have likely happened. Notwithstanding the above, I had a very good time but I chalk it up to the 19 other travelers in my guided group and the beautiful countryside we saw. One last thing-if you are not a seasoned cyclist-use an e-bike on this trip. Some of the hills are killers.

Charming urban oasis
Amsterdam City E-Bike Tour
Gliding through the peaceful paths of Vondelpark was a wonderful, scenic break from the city bustle, with beautiful trees and lots of birdsong. The history of the park's sinking ground levels was also a fascinating fact to learn!

Part of a European transit cycle
Innsbruck to Salzburg: Through the Alps Along River Cycle Trails
The paper guides were difficult to read - we used a Garmin which made it much easier otherwise you were constantly stopping to check turnings- suggest you don’t use survey maps but custom bike maps. Hotel selection was ok but some rooms were noisy and windows facing busy roads. Worst hotels were Innsbruck and Salzburg which spoiled the trip experience.Trish

Our Best Bike Trip Ever!
Salzburg Lakes Tour: Around the Lakes within the Foothills of the Alps
We had to stop saying how beautiful this route was! Quiet roads and bike paths, incredible scenery, nice hotels and amazing breakfasts! We chose the upgraded bikes which were very comfortable, not e-bikes, and only walked one hill. The rolling terrain added welcome variety to our ride. We were especially surprised leaving and re-entering Salzburg totally on safe bike paths. The app was very easy to follow and we are looking forward to our next self guided tour with bike tours.com. We have done several tours with guided companies and are really enjoying the freedom of self guided biking. Being able to begin riding when you would like and to stop at sites that peak your interest made all the difference.

Lake Constance to Lake Maggiore
What a great way to experience Switzerland! The overall experience was excellent and we enjoyed the variety of sceneries and hotels. We were definitely grateful to have had e-bikes.

Well organized, very enjoyable trip
Danube Discovery: Pedaling from Germany to Austria
The bike routes were very well marked. Additionally, we were provided with excellent maps and an excellent gps route guidance tool. We were initially given e-bikes which we had not requested but they were immediately switched out to regular bikes. The crew were all very helpful and nice. The ship was quite comfortable. Food was very good.

Scenic Golden Gate Bridge San Francisco Bike Tour
Parking at Crissy Fields for that postcard-perfect view of the bridge was an unforgettable photo opportunity. Our guide provided great historical context, especially about the historic defense at Fort Mason.

This trip had it all - new friends, good food, interesting and beautiful cities, history and bicycling. However the bicycling was quite easy. I wish the route maps were updated so that we could have added more miles and ridden on our own especially when the groups were quite large.

Best of Portugal
Algarve Coastal Route
This was a very good tour of the southern Portugal coastal towns. The scenery is amazing and some of the towns like Tavira are beautiful and perfect for their restaurants and artistry. The ride does fluctuate from paved roads to dirt roads with boardwalks providing very nice scenery on day 3 and 4.

Best bike/sail trip yet!
Denmark and Sweden by Sail and Bike
We had 30 bikers, so the group was divided into two, and eventually evolved into three biking groups. Since many had downloaded the app, some people set off on their own. The e-bikes were wonderful and welcome since the winds off the coast could be strong! Although it rained on arrival day, it was sunny and 60’s every day thereafter. The biking varied- from urban streets to rural farm areas with few major inclines. Amazing traditional and contemporary architecture, climbing roses, peonies, and poppies everywhere. Danish and Swedish locals were friendly and helpful as needed.
The ship had 4 comfortable areas for people to hang out in; two inside and two outside. The sailing crew (all young women) were fabulous: friendly, helpful, and strong (!) when putting up the sails! Chef Pete was phenomenal- gourmet meals and fika daily at 4:00. The Captain was friendly and entertaining - very proud of his boat and crew, understandably.
The tour guides were friendly, fun, and incredibly helpful as bikers fell or had tire issues. In past bike/barge tours, the program guides provided more history, info, etc about each city, but we googled/translated info as needed.
I’ve been on 3 other bike/sail trips so assumed the compartments would be small; there were complaints among new tour participants expecting more room.

Paris Evening Bike & Boat Tour
I've done this tour twice when I've visited Paris - the first two years ago and then this June. I loved them both - they were different but each wonderful. The tour this June (2025) took great advantage of all of the new bicycle lanes in Paris so it was a lot of fun to ride on those all through Paris!

Tour de Storks
Alsace Wine Country
Bicycling this area was a fantastic experience. I’ve biked many areas of Europe and I can say that the bike friendliness of Alsace is top notch. The villages were marvelous and the wine was the best. We love the dry Rieslings.
Everything was smooth sailing, from the bicycles to the detailed GPX files. All the hotels were great and the variety was way cool.
I told my son, who lives in Switzerland that this route is a must do for him and my grandson.
We shared this experience with another couple (close friends) with the anticipation that we will do this trip again with them.
We saw 7 or 8 Stork nests on Church steeples, town wall towers, and other high places all with chicks. It was charming.
My hat is off to bike tours for a seamless experience.
BTW, the one rain we had was 20 minutes which we spent under an awning so no worries. Weather kharma!

Good trip
Bolzano to Verona: Orchards, Mountains & Timeless Culture
Overall it was a great trip but bikes need to be upgraded to 21st century! They were dinosaur 🦕. Trip notes were good & hotels nice. We had a great trip with our friends.

Superb!
Bicycle Paths of the Dolomites (based in one hotel)
Absolutely perfect, could ride at your own pace all day, stopping where ever you needed. Scenery spectacular and it was also lovely cycling around the farms as well listening to the cow bells and birds. Bikes were fabulous, practically new and surprisingly comfortable! Hotel was fabulous and amazing food every day. Highly recommend.
