Climb the Diamond Head Crater

Begin at Waikiki Beach, pedal on to Kapiolani Park, then ascend the Diamond Head Crater for panoramic views of Oahu on this hike and bike tour. Along the route of this family-friendly day tour you’ll take in sites including the WW1 Natatorium Memorial, Disney House, Diamond Head Lighthouse Lookout, the Amelia Earhart memorial, and the Hawaii FIVE-O / NCIS Hawaii studios.

This guided tour will begin with a ride through Kapiolani Park, an expansive green space named after Queen Kapiolani, the beloved wife of King Kalakaua. The bicycle tour then continues to the WW1 Natatorium Memorial, once a grand saltwater swimming pool where legendary figures like Duke Kahanamoku trained for the Olympics.

Cycling on, you'll pass by the Disney House, an impressive feat of Mediterranean Revival architecture designed for Walt Disney that will impress movie devotees and architecture aficionados alike. The next stop on your route is the Diamond Head Lighthouse Lookout. Perched 150 feet above sea level, this historic lighthouse, dating back to 1899, has played a vital role in guiding ships along Oahu's shores. From this vantage point, you'll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the Pacific Ocean and the surfers gracefully riding the waves below.

You'll then stop at the Amelia Earhart memorial, raised in honor of this courageous trailblazer whose disappearance somewhere over the Pacific Ocean remains a mystery today. The day tour then proceeds to the Hawaii FIVE-O / NCIS Hawaii studios, where these popular TV series that capture the beauty and excitement of life on these islands are filmed.

From here, you'll arrive at the highlight of this day tour: your ascent to the top of the Diamond Head Crater. You'll ride for a while before parking your bike and embarking on a 45 minute to an hour long hike to the top of this magnificent formation. As you climb, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of Oahu's south- and east-facing shores as your guide delves into a wealth of Hawaiian and World War II history. Descend the mountain and enjoy a well-deserved, locally sourced lunch, included in the cost of this bike tour.
