Daily program
Day 1: Individual arrival to Copenhagen
The Danish capital has a lot to offer. An early arrival is highly recommended. Take a stroll through the medieval city center or visit the famous Tivoli.
Overnight in CopenhagenDay 2: Copenhagen – Køge (34 miles/55 km)
The first cycle stage will lead along the so-called Køge bay, with outstanding views to the Baltic Sea. The national park Amager Fælled is absolutely free of traffic, and its scenic landscape will impress you. For those who are interested in art, we recommend visiting the Arken Museum of Modern Art (closed on Mondays). Køge belongs to one of the oldest cities of Denmark and is located directly on the coast. The white sand beaches invite for a jump into the cool water for a refresh.
Overnight in KøgeDay 3: Exploring the Stevns peninsula (day trip from Køge) (34 miles or 50 miles/55 or 80 km)
Today's trip will lead you to the peninsula of Stevns. The road goes along the coast that will quickly take you to Strøby Ladeplads with its numerous holiday houses. Later on, the path goes inland where you pass the city of Magleby and Gjorslev castle to reach the UNESCO World Heritage Stevns Klint. Steep coast and old church of Højerup invite you to linger to enjoy the breathtaking views.Afterward, after a short, while you will reach Rødvig and the idyllic village of Fakse Ladeplads which is located directly by the sea. From there you can take a direct train back to Køge (train ticket not included in tour package). Option to cycle back to Køge for a return journey via Karise and Herfølge.
Overnight in KøgeDay 4: Køge – Roskilde (22 miles/35 km)
After Køge, the first part of the route will go along the coast to Karlstrup. Then the road will gently take you away from the coast to explore the inland of this beautiful country. You will cycle along the Hedebostien Cycle Path which has recently renovated and now allows a direct connection between Køge Bay and Roskilde Fjord. You will experience breathtaking scenic impressions, a beautiful change from the coastal paths.Roskilde has a rich historical past. Take your time for a stroll through the historic city center and visit the famous Roskilde Cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Overnight in RoskildeDay 5: Exploring the Roskilde Fjord (day trip from Roskilde) (16 or 22 or 31 miles/25 or 30 or 50 km)
Today you have 3 route options. The shortest one will take you to Lejre, the Land of Legends, a 43-hectare "outdoor laboratory" for experimental archeology. Another route choice passes the beautiful castle Ledreborg with its park. And for the cyclists who want to challenge themselves, we provide a worthy day trip west to Holbæk or north of the fjord along to Frederikssund.Whatever you choose, comfortable train connections are available for your return trip to Roskilde and each variant will charm you in its own way (train ticket not included in tour cost).
Overnight in RoskildeDay 6: Roskilde – Copenhagen (22 or 28 miles/35 or 45 km)
Today's stage leads you back to the starting point of your bike tour: the Danish capital Copenhagen. From Albertslund, a newly built bike path will take you to the center of Copenhagen, nearly free of traffic. In the afternoon there is enough time for you to explore the city on your own. During a stroll, you can fulfill all the wonderful impressions that you have already gained on your bike tour through East Zealand.Day 7: Individual departure or extension
After breakfast, your journey ends. We are happy to book extra nights for you to explore the Danish capital.Surface and terrain
On the whole an easy cycle tour which leads through flat and soft hilly landscapes. Mostly own bike paths and small streets without much traffic. Only if entering and leaving cities you need to expect some more traffic.
