We at BikeTours.com enjoy working with every different kind of cyclist, in every different walk (or ride) of life.

To help you decide what tours are best for you, we’ve organized profiles of some different types of travelers we often advise. Recognize yourself in any of these descriptions? If so, we’ve suggested a tour to get you started.

    First Timer

This is your first bicycle tour, and perhaps you’d like some special attention from the BikeTours.com team to make sure it’s the right one.

    A suggestion:

Best of Holland South: Canals, Windmills, and Historic Towns — This leisurely tour features historic towns, picturesque villages, canals, sand dunes, windmills, and wonderfully flat cycling.

    Laid-back and Leisurely

You’re comfortable on a bike, and a bike tour sounds great, as long as it’s leisurely and more about the journey than the destination.

    A suggestion:

Connemara Lazy Days Cycling (Ireland)— Connemara is the western wonderland of Europe, where rugged mountains soar above wild Atlantic beaches. This tour is specifically designed for travelers who prefer shorter distances and in-depth explorations of the region.

    Explorer

You love exploring off the beaten path to emerging destinations. Unique cultures and new experiences are important to your sense of adventure.

    A suggestion:

Albania’s UNESCO Sites with Rivers, Valleys, and Gorges — This guided tour through unspoiled Albania is a real pedal back into time as you explore a country that only opened its borders in the ’90s. Take in the richness of the culture, the landscape, and the incredibly friendly people on this unique tour.

    A suggestion:

French Alpes Tour: Alpes and Ventoux - Ride (and suffer) as the pros do on this mountainous tour through the French Alps.

    Roadie

You’re the classical road cyclist. You love the smooth feel and quick cadence of your carbon road bike on the pavement.

    A suggestion:

Catalonia Road Bike Tour: Girona to the Sea — Discover why so many pros choose Girona as their training base. The rides are a fantastic mix of stunning coastal scenery, quiet and hilly inland roads, challenging climbs, and buzzing descents along the Costa Brava.

    Retired but Wired

You may be retired, but you haven’t wholly succumbed to sitting down in your newfound freedom. You love to travel and you love to be active.

    A suggestion:

Wine and Bike in Hungary’s Balaton Uplands – The tour features low mileage; mostly flat terrain; culinary treasures—and unlimited wine!

    Solo Adventurer

You’re cycling and traveling solo, but you want to ride, socialize and meet others, or you want a route that is safe for solo travelers.

    A suggestion:

Danube Bike Path 8 Nights (Upscale Lodging) – Its dedicated, well-marked bike paths take you past vineyards, castles, medieval towns, and cultural attractions. Although rarely crowded, the path is a popular tourism destination and considered especially safe.

    Lovebird

You’re looking for romance, and you’ve come to the right place. Your romantic trip or honeymoon doesn’t have to mean sitting on a beach lounger all day at an all-inclusive resort.

    A suggestion:

Atlantic West Coast and Sintra – Where land meets the Atlantic beauty – the west coast of Portugal! Breathe in the fresh ocean air, experience typical coastal lifestyle, relax on gorgeous white sand beaches, and treat yourself to extraordinary Portuguese gastronomy, Altenjo wines, and magnificent scenery.

    Family-friendly

You’re the family who looks beyond the black mouse ears for summer vacations. You and your teens, or tweens, like adventure and being active, and a bike tour is right up your alley.

    Suggestions:

    Culture Vulture

You’re committed to the 'slow travel' movement, less focused on the destination than on the journey (and the more old castles, the better).

    A suggestion:

Albania’s UNESCO Sites with Rivers, Valleys, and Gorges — Some say that visiting Albania is as close as you’ll get to traveling back in time, and this 9-night tour showcases the country’s unique and undiscovered cultural heritage.

    Foodie

You view cycling as something that complements an extraordinary dinner as much as a fine bottle of wine.

    A suggestion:

A Taste of Italy: Emilia Romagna — You’ll ride through Italy’s premier pasta region. Every meal will include extraordinary local dishes made according to tradition.

    The Organizer

You’re the one in the group who comes up with the ideas and makes the plans. The one who rallies everyone together, plans events, parties, and trips, and is 'into the details'.

    A suggestion:

Highlights of Dalmatia by Bike/E-bike and Boat – A great bike and boat tour in the Dalmatian Islands off the coast of Croatia. The boat holds 30 people and, while the islands are hilly, there are e-bikes available for anyone who needs one, making this tour great for groups of varying ability levels.
