Tour description

Croatia has a beautiful coast with thousands of islands, reefs and bays. Numerous romantic ruins, charming hills, countless natural beauties and phenomena are waiting to be discovered.

You are invited to spend a week on a ship cruising between the mainland and the islands. Good cuisine, an open minded crew, and knowledgeable tour guides are expecting you. You will visit two National Parks and the islands of Central Dalmatia, starting from Trogir. Highlights include UNESCO protected old town of Trogir, Primošten, Šibenik with its famous cathedral, Zadar, National Park Krka-waterfalls and Kornati Islands.

On a romantic motor yacht, your floating accommodation, you discover the charm of the Adriatic in your own special way.

Daily program

Day 1: Trogir – Rogoznica
Individual arrival either to Trogir or Split. After checking in on the motor yacht between 2-2:30pm at Trogir, the boat will depart the harbor at 3:00pm, heading to Rogoznica - a village on a small island which is connected to the mainland by a dam.
Overnight in Rogoznica.

Day 2: Rogoznica – Primošten – Šibenik – Skradin (12 miles/20 km)
In the morning we cycle from Rogoznica to Primošten. From there the boat takes us to the city of Šibenik to the spot where the Krka River flows into the Adriatic Sea. After visiting the famous cathedral and the lovely old town we set off again. On the cruise, we pass the lower course of the river Krka following the river bend until we reach Skradin.
Overnight in port of Skradin.

Day 3: National Park of Krka – Vodice (12 miles/20 km)
The magnificent port of Skradin is today's start point for exploring the most famous part of the Krka National Park with its unique waterfalls. In the early afternoon, our boat takes us to the harbor of Vodice, a well-known holiday town on the Dalmatian mainland. From here we mount the bicycles again for a round trip.
Overnight in Vodice.

Day 4: Vodice – Island of Murter – Nature Park Telašćica (16 miles/27 km)
In the morning we cycle from Vodice to Murter Island that is connected to the mainland by the lift bridge at Tisno. We pass the bridge and cycle along the waterfront, passing by two very old coastal villages until we reach a small landing place from where the boat takes us on a cruise through the National Park Kornati, an archipelago in crystal clear water which is known for its rich aquatic realm.

Our destination is the Nature Park Telašćica. In the evening a walk through the park leads us along the stunning cliffs of the island. The famous Silver Lake - known by movies of Winnetou - is also located in the Nature Park.
Overnight stay on the Island of Dugi Otok.

Day 5: Island of Dugi Otok – Zadar (16 miles/25 km)
After a short crossing, today's bike tour leads us along a virtually traffic-free and panoramic road. We ride across the whole island. During the ride, we're treated to countless unforgettable vistas of the islands in the deep blue sea. We meet our ship for a crossing to Zadar, which for centuries was the political, cultural and spiritual center of Dalmatia. Our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lanes of the lively old center. About 3,000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia but also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.
Overnight in Zadar.

Day 6: Islands of Pašman and Ugljan – Island of Zlarin (20 miles/33 km)
During breakfast, the boat crosses to the island of Ugljan at the channel of Zadar. Today we have a lot of time to explore both of the islands Ugljan and Pašman by bicycle. They have been connected by a bridge. We cycle along the East Coast, always with beautiful views to the mainland and the ocean. Afterward, our boat cruises to the coral island of Zlarin.
Overnight in Zlarin.

Day 7: Island of Šolta – Trogir (9 miles/15 km)
In the morning our motor yacht takes us to the island of Šolta. Olive and fig trees and farmland surround the streets. The spicy smell of lavender and rosemary will follow us throughout the whole tour around the silent island until we reach the village Grohote. During mid-day, our last cruise takes us back to Trogir. Here we have enough time to visit the world cultural heritage old town. After dinner, it is time to say goodbye to crew and travel guides.
Overnight in Trogir.

Day 8: Departure from Trogir
After breakfast, disembarkation until 9:00am.

The tour operator reserves the right to make changes to the itinerary, depending on wind and weather conditions or organizational requirements.

These terms and conditions, which you agree to by booking your trip, govern the contractual relationship between you as traveler and us as tour operator.  The terms and conditions supplement Paragraph 651 and those following in the German BGB (Buergerliches Gesetzbuch) that govern travel contract law. Please read all the following terms and conditions carefully.

Trip Cancellation
If the minimum number of participants required for a trip is not met (18 participants for bus and boat trips, unless otherwise noted), we reserve the right to cancel it. The decision about whether the trip will take place or not will be made as early as possible, three weeks before the beginning of the trip at the latest. In case of trip cancellation, all payments you have made will be fully refunded. There can be no additional claims made against us.  As the tour operator, we have the right to cancel the tour if the trip is jeopardized, made difficult, or impaired due to an act of God.

The foundation upon which the trip is organized is the description of the services, which is available in the brochure, in official pamphlets and on our website, and confirmed in your travel contract. Alterations that become necessary after the finalization of the contract and that are made in good faith are permitted if they are not substantial, and do not change the overall character of the trip.  We assume no liability for information in the brochures of our partners or in our own brochure, even if we issued them.

We are liable within the scope of a merchant’s duty of care for diligent trip preparation, careful selection and supervision of participating agencies, accuracy of service and activity descriptions, and standard provision of the services agreed upon. Our liability for damages other than personal injury is limited to three times the cost of the trip, provided the damages are neither intentional nor due to gross negligence. This limitation is still in effect if we are responsible for the damage due to the fault of a service provider.  If we are solely procurers of foreign services, we are liable only for proper procurement, not for the services. We are liable for damage or loss of luggage up to the amount of 250 € only if the damage was caused by us and was indicated to us immediately.  Scratches on luggage, torn luggage handles, and damaged wheels are excluded from any liability.  Upon delivery of luggage at the accommodation facilities, the liability is transferred according to § 701 BGB to the officer of the accommodations.  Services that were not made use of will not be reimbursed.

A vacation that involves exercise and physical activity requires greater commitment than a conventional package tour. It is your duty to make certain that you are up to the physical challenges of such a trip.  The pre-condition for a bike-tour is that you are able to handle a bicycle in street traffic and on unpaved paths under any weather conditions.  If you rent a bike, it is your responsibility to check the condition of the bike, particularly the brakes.  You bear sole responsibility for adhering to all legal regulations at home and abroad, particularly regulations about travel documents and cross-border trade.  When traveling across the exterior borders of the EU, your luggage must remain unlocked, to facilitate passage through customs.  If your baggage is searched, you will be notified about it upon arrival at the destination.  If problems with the procurement of the services occur, you are required to help within the scope of legal regulations, in order to avoid potential damages or keep them at a minimum and report any complaints to us immediately.

Duty of Care
During the duration of the trip, you are liable for damage to or loss of bicycles and any equipment entrusted to you.  For guided tours, this is only valid if you have separated yourself from the group, have disobeyed instructions from the tour guides, or caused the damage or loss intentionally, through negligence or gross negligence.

You can demand redress if the trip services are not rendered according to the contract. This can be solved by us providing compensation of equal or greater value.  In the case of disproportionate effort, corrective action can be denied.  For the period in which the services that have not been rendered according to contract, you can request a reduction in travel price after your return. The pre-condition for this is the immediate notification of our deficiencies or those of our tour guides, so that we have the opportunity to find a remedy.  Tour guides are not authorized to recognize claims.  Independent of a reduction in travel price, you can demand compensation due to non-compliance with the travel contract, unless we are not responsible for the defect.

Limitation of claim
Claims must be made in writing within one month of the contractual end of the trip. The statute of limitation for claims based on the contract expires six months after the contractual end of the trip.  The statute of limitations for all claims of civil offence expires three years after the end of the trip.

Privacy of Personal InformationAll personal information that you give us for the processing of the trip is protected against misuse under German personal data protection law.

Travel ProtectionWe urge you to consider effecting a travel cancellation cost insurance.  Before the trip, please also find out about your medical and accident insurance and about luggage insurance or travel liability insurance, if necessary.

Severability Clause
The nullification of individual clauses in the travel contract or the travel terms does not result in the nullification of the entire contract or the travel terms.

Court of Jurisdiction
The court of jurisdiction is Konstanz, Germany

The BEST trip I have ever taken!

I enjoyed this trip with my 15 year young granddaughter and it was the BEST trip she and I have ever experienced. The islands we visited, the national parks, the food, the people, the weather, the scenery and EVERYTHING was absolutely WONDERFUL!!!

First of what I hope are many bike/boat tours

The Romantica exceeded my expectations: cabin was roomy, bed comfortable, and food wonderful. The guides were knowledgeable and had arranged guided tours in some of the ports. The rides could have been a bit longer, but it was nice to have time to swim and explore.

Almost perfect from start to finish!

The first part of the tour is doing the booking and getting information. Bike Tours were very helpful from the start answering questions about the tour, gear, bikes and accommodations. I often would call and they were very helpful. If they didn't know the information they got right back to me.
From the start of the trip, Inselhupfen was well organized. They knew what we needed. Took our bags so we could explore Trogir and when we returned the bags were in our cabin. This was done with efficiency, friendliness and humor.
The cabin was comfortable and clean. Everything we needed was available, towels, bedding and adequate storage.
The crew on the boat is always busy, they keep the ship clean, prepare wonderful meals and sail the ship. We were pleased with how often they checked and tidied our cabin. The crew was experienced and I felt safe in their hands
Now the biking experience-it was excellent. We had wonderful rides mostly on the backroads of Croatian Islands. There would often be views in both directions as we road along the ridge. The flowers were out and a great part of the ride was the colors and scents you were immersed in while riding. We saw our boat making the crossing at sea as we rode along the ridge to our next destination.
Croatia's small towns are scenic, and the people are friendly. When we did ride through a town, the guides would make sure you knew what to do to stay safe.
Each day after each meal we would receive of briefing of what our ride would be like and any special information about our destination. We also visited and olive oil production site and Krka, a national park that was a highlight!
There were 3 city tours offered that gave information about the history, architecture and culture. These were well done, the guides informative and engaging. This enhanced my appreciation and understanding.
The guides were excellent! They made us feel welcome, safe and worked to insure we had a great time. When plans change, they explained the reasons and offered options when possible. They did their best to provide alternatives that were in line with the expectations of the tour and beyond. We visited the home of one of the guides on the last day. We were treated to anchovies, caught and processed by the family. They also offered homade wine, plum brandy, sherry and we had a mini performance of a beautiful Croatian tune by the father and one of our fellow travelers.
Finally, I rode an Ebike. While I do ride a lot, this is at the beginning of our riding season, it is also my first bike trip, so I thought it best. Never was I sorry. I got plenty of exercise and was able to focus on the surroundings rather than the mechanics of riding. On long rides where it was open country, I was sometimes alone on my bike soaking in the countryside. The guides always made sure to allow for all types of riders and speeds.
This was a great experience that I hope to repeat!

A Great Trip

A terrific way to see the islands of Dalmatia. Guides were splendid. Food OK, but not outstanding. More fruit! Staff were superb in helping us to make the most of cycling and non-cycling experiences. Itinerary well planned, though clearer guidance about where to start (i.e. Trogir, rather than Split) would have made life easier. The tour lived up to our expectations.
