Budapest Highlights Bike Tour
Bike to the best of Budapest
This bike tour is a tantalizing trip around Budapest’s most significant and spectacular sightseeing attractions.
You’ll be stunned at the beauty of Szabadsag Tér (Liberty Square), boasting Art Nouveau-style buildings, monuments, and memorials of Reagan, the Soviet War and German occupation, all nestling beautiful lawns and paths. This square has been the site of a barracks and a setting for revolution.
You’ll ride on the icon of Budapest – the stunning Hungarian Parliament – picture-perfect as it casts its reflection in the gorgeous blue Danube. Sitting in Buda, the Parliament is an awe-inspiring mix of Baroque, Gothic Revival and Renaissance Revival architecture unlike any building you’ll have seen before.
Cycling along Nagymezö Utca, you’ll understand its nickname ‘Broadway of Budapest’. The Operetta Theatre boasts a beautiful façade, and the whole avenue is alive with boutique cafes and theater-goers weaving amongst the urban flower beds. Here, there’s a chance to see the Walk of Fame, House of Photography, and the quirky ‘Laptop Statue’!
Andrassy Street is one of Budapest’s cultural hubs, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. Here, cycle to the House of Terror, cast your eyes over a remnant of the Berlin Wall, witness the Opera House, and learn from your guide chilling stories of life behind the ‘Iron Curtain’. A brief pedal through Liszt Ferenc square allows for a spot of window-shopping at the Gucci and Luis Vuitton stores.
Riding on, your bicycle tour takes you to Hôsök Tere, ‘Heroes Square’. This is one of the iconic sites of Budapest, once home to enormous communist parades, and still bursting with history. Park your bike in the shadow of the Millennium Monument, featuring statues to the seven chieftains of the Magyars, and admire the Memorial Stone of Heroes.
Gliding into Városliget (City Park), you’ll be awe-struck by the magnificent turreted Vajdahunyad Castle, dating back to 1896 and sitting in splendor by the lake. The park is home to the Tree of Freedom and Széchenyi, Budapest’s largest, and incredibly beautiful, thermal bath.
Continuing through from the park, you’ll ride to the Jewish Quarter and Basilica, the final stop on your historical day tour. This district hosts the largest Synagogue in Europe, able to house 3,000 worshippers, as well as the poignant Tree of Life, a memorial to the 600,000 Hungarian Jews murdered during the Holocaust. A moment of reflection, before you glide on to Pest’s most popular street, overflowing with gastro-pubs and authentic eateries. Let your guide capture your imagination with tales of Budapest’s heaviest bell, why the number 96 holds significance, and where you can find a mummified hand!

Awesome way to see Budapest
Such a fun way to explore the city! The route was quite scenic, and our guide Lajos shared cool facts along the way. Loved getting around on bikes, mostly flat, easy, relaxed, and a great vibe overall. Would totally recommend!

Fun and Family-Friendly Bike Tour
We chose to do this tour privately since we were traveling with four small children, all riding on the back of our bikes. Our guide even joked that we set a new record for the number of toddlers on a single tour! The ride was relaxed and enjoyable, with several interesting stops along the way. The final stop, on an island in the river, was a highlight, giving the kids a chance to play and explore.

An enjoyable and informative tour
An excellent tour with an interesting, knowledgeable and friendly guide. We loved it despite the rain that poured for almost half the tour. The guide gave us an opportunity to choose whether we wanted to continue or to drop the tour and join a different group the following morning, which was really convenient. Highly recommendable!
