    • Bike to the best of Bilbao

The Bilbao Central Bike Tour is your best-of-Bilbao bicycle tour, encompassing its most sensational sightseeing spots, including the Guggenheim Museum, Zubizuri Bridge, Doña Casilda Park, La Salve Bridge, Plaza Nueva, and the Euskalduna Conference Center. Your family-friendly day tour takes you on a journey of discovery through the stunning streets of Bilbao, venturing off the beaten track to provide an insider’s understanding of the city’s traditions and customs. Bike rental is an added benefit!

Cycling along the Nervion Estuary in Bilbao, it’s impossible to miss the titanium colossus glittering on the banks of the river. This is the Guggenheim Museum, one of the largest museums in Spain, dedicated to modern and contemporary art by resident Spanish and visiting international artists, and part of the esteemed Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Its quilted architecture is an urban curiosity, designed to resist the rain and winds.

Zipping over to Zubizuri Bridge, known as the ‘White Bridge’, admire another unusual feat of architecture - a curved walkway of translucent bricks, supported by steel cables attached to the curved arch above. It forms an iconic sight over the Nervion River, with critics even describing the bridge as a symbol of ‘hope’.

Your guided day tour continues to Doña Casilda Park, the ‘green lung’ of Bilbao. This natural oasis in the midst of the urban cityscape provides a replenishing ride beneath the emerald green canopies of myriad tree species. A delightful duck pond awaits discovery in this gorgeous English Garden, along with a picturesque pergola and cybernetic fountain. Cycling on to La Salve Bridge, ride under the radiant red arc that defines this huge structure and connects it seamlessly to the Guggenheim Museum beneath.

Pedaling into Plaza Nueva, admire an extraordinary Neoclassical square dating back to 1821. To reach it, you’ll cycle through the ‘cuevas’, the arresting arches nicknamed the ‘caves’. Between these ‘cuevas’, the beautiful bars and taverns of Bilbao nestle, along with quaint souvenir shops and an eclectic flea market. The plaza is now the site of the Euskalduna Conference Center, an enormous auditorium and theater, which brings your bike tour to a flamboyant finale.

        Great history and personal insights

        · Bilbao Central Bike Tour

I ended up being on a solo tour, which was a real treat. My guide Willie was friendly and knowledgeable. He grew up in Bilbao and saw a lot of the changes of the last few decades. Was interesting hearing his childhood remembrances and enjoying his clear love of the town. I just wish I had managed to do this as my first activity in Bilbao!

        Competence paired with joy

        · Bilbao Central Bike Tour

The bike tour was sensationally put together, no sightseeing of the usual tourist points, but insider information. Our local guide was not only funny and competent, but also imparted his knowledge with acting talent. Wonderful. Thank you very much for three great hours.
