    • Bike beyond the ordinary

Discover Berlin’s taste for the eccentric in this alternative guided tour of the capital’s charming corners and secret surprises. Enjoy the benefits of bike rental and a family-friendly day tour suitable for children.

Lasting approximately 3.5 hours, the bike tour begins in trendy Prenzlauer Berg, home to intriguing boutiques and enticing restaurants. Ride on to the gorgeous Fountain of Fairytales before the mood changes cycling down former Stalinallee, the monumental socialist boulevard built by the GDR from 1952–1960. Glide along the open-air East Side Gallery, telling the story of the Berlin Wall, before you feast your eyes on Oberbaumbrücke, a splendid double-decker bridge over the River Spree. Kreuzberg is proud of this landmark, a former border crossing, whose redbrick gleams in the sunlight.

Enjoy a leisurely ride along the river and drink in the myriad colors of the Wrangelstraße murals, continuing on to Görlitzer Park, a major recreation area boasting a delightful lawned amphitheater. Kreuzberg locals love Little Istanbul and so will you. Have your senses overwhelmed as you zig-zag your bike through the vibrant bars and shops around Oranienstraße, full of quirky Turkish gifts, delights, and delicacies.

Biking on to the Bethanien, you’ll be impressed by the magisterial turrets of this former hospital, home to Berlin’s alternative activists for a time as a squat, and to the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, a workplace for professional artists, until 2010. The bicycle tour finishes at the treehouse at the Wall, an impossible-sounding story from the Cold War of one intrepid migrant’s attempt to outsmart the authorities.

Cycle to a dazzling selection of Berlin’s symbols of resistance, culture, and community in this one-of-a-kind day tour of Germany’s capital. Lots to write home about!
