Tour description

This is a journey that will take place both on land and on water, searching the natural treasures and cultural heritage spotted along the Amalfi Coast and the Gulf of Naples. A cruise on board a ship that has all the style of the ancient caique, a type of boat that is a legend itself, just as it is the sea under your feet.

It is not just a matter of watching and observing, but a truly active journey intended to combine boating and relaxing with cycling along the narrow streets of Capri, Pompeii, Procida, Ischia Islands, and Sorrento.

Daily program

Day 1: Individual arrival to Castellammare di Stabia, embarkation
Leaving at 6:00pm from Marina di Castellammare di Stabia (Naples), the crew welcomes guests with drinks, dinner, and presentation of the program.
Overnight in Castellammare di Stabia.

Day 2: Castellammare di Sabia – Pompeii – Sorrento (9 miles/14 km, +/-131 ft elevation)
Today's cycle route leads you to Pompeii and the Villa dei Misteri, the world's largest open-air archaeological site in the world. Return journey to the Marina di Castellammare and departure with the caique towards Sorrento. Walking visit of the town and return to the boat.
Overnight on board at the Marinadi Cassano in roadstead or in the port in case of bad weather conditions.

Day 3: Sorrento – Positano – Amalfi (22 miles/34 km, +/-2297 ft elevation)
This morning you depart along the Sorrento coast. You cross "Passo San Pietro" (St. Peters pass) and enter the Amalfi Coast. The route cycles along scenic roads on the way to Positano. From Positano the tour continues to Amalfi, the most powerful Mariner Republic at the end of the 10th century. Return to the boat.
Overnight in Amalfi.

Day 4: Amalfi – Minori – Vietri – Cetara or Ravello (18 miles/29 km, +/-1967 ft elevation; optional Ravello route 24 miles/39 km, +/-2297 ft elevation)
From Amalfi you continue cycling along the coast with some ups and downs overlooking the sea, crossing the villages of Minori, Maiori, and Cetara. It is possible to make a deviation and go up towards Ravello.

From the village dominating the sea from 300 meters above sea level, you can enjoy a view beyond the Gulf of Salerno and up to the Cilento mountains. You return on the road along the coast to finally reach Vietri. You come back on board. Dinner and overnight in the small fishing port of Cetara.

Day 5: Capri
Today you will have a break from cycling. Disembark in Marina Piccola (Capri) for a walking exploration. You will have time to visit Capri's famous piazzetta and Faraglioni. Another highlight is a spectacular view from a cliff overlooking the Gulf of Naples dominated by Mount Vesuvius. In the afternoon, navigate to Ischia.
Overnight stay in the port of Ischia Casamicciola.

Day 6: Ischia (11 miles/18 km, +/-984 ft elevation)
Cycling from Ischia port you will cross by bike the west part of the island among the scents and flavors of the Mediterranean sea, crossing small villages. Once we reach the thermal village of S. Angelo, return to the boat.
Overnight in Ischia Sant' Angelo.

Day 7: Procida – Solfatara volcan
We travel by boat up to Procida, walking visit of the town and San Michele Abbey. Return to the boat to continue to Pozzuoli, in the bay of Naples. Transfer to reach the “Solfatara” site, a shallow volcanic crater part of the Campi Flegrei volcanic area. It is a dormant volcano, which still emits jets of steam with sulfurous fumes. The name comes from the Latin, Sulpha terra, land of sulfur, or sulfur earth. After the visit, return of foot to the boat. Navigation up to Marina di Castellammare di Stabia (in alternative, we reach Castellammare with public means).
Overnight in the Marina of Castellammare di Stabia.

Day 8: Individual departure or additional nights
Disembarkation at 9:00am. End of services.

Please note that the program and details are subject to changes due to nautical and weather reasons.

Great way to get a feel for the Amalfi coast.

Boat bike is a great way to explore the Amalfi coast. We had a great guide (Clemente). who was so knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. He really was charming and a real genuine guy. The captain who was pulled in at the last minute when our original captain had to leave for emergency personal matter. He seemed to really enjoy his job ( who wouldn't) he really pulled out all stops to make the trip enjoyable. He didn't take any shortcuts, doing extra kms to make sure we got to see the islands and coastline at the best angles. Olga looked after our every need and Tonini (2IC) worked so hard doing everything from helping with the boat to Washington dishes, ferrying us to shore, you name it he was always there. Our cook Francesco did a great job dishing up his mothers home style recipes to give us something different for dinner each night. Our trip left on the 26th August and we had a very hot week of cycling which made it tough going at times. The coastal road from Sorrento along the Amalfi coast is not for the faint hearted and had a few close calls. The italian drivers are pretty good in general though. The only negative for us was the rubbish which of course you see close up on a bike. The trip to Pompeii was particularly filthy and left a bad impression of this area.

Even better than I dreamed!

This was our first bike tour. It will Not be our last. The boat was charming and comfortable. The crew took care of every detail. Food was amazing! Riccardo, our guide was knowledgeable, personable, and added a bit of fun to all his stories. Loved the small group! Made new friends from other countries and everyone got along amazingly. Definitely glad we chose e-bikes for this tour! I ride bike a lot, but the cobblestone, steep, curvy hills and traffic are so much more enjoyable by e-bike! Antiquities, flowers and scenery is unbelievable- definitely recommend this bike tour!

Great Trip

This is my first bike trip and I signed up for this tour since it included Pompeii. The first ride was flat and very easy. The other three rides were hilly and were longer. On the days that we did not ride, there were either hikes (as in Capri) or long walking tours (as in Naples). The tour mixed the riding with history and exploration; free time was provided each day for more exploration.

Excellent Trip

This trip was great - it allowed me to visit some of the most beautiful places in Italy I had missed my last go around. The Amalfi coast is so beautiful - this tour brought you to some out of the way places you may miss when visiting this region. Our guide and the crew were great. The food was very, very good.

After the first day I ended up switching to an electric bike, - much better! Out of 9 of us only 2 had regular bikes. I'm so glad I mad the switch - those hills seemed like they never ended.

I'm including a link to a blog that was done along the way.

The ship was very nice the cabins pretty small. There is no place to keep your bags so they were kind enough to store the luggage in a van in Castellammare di Stabia.

While I did give this 5 stars-- because it really was a terrific trip-- there are some cons I think everyone should be aware of. You never really sail, the motor is used at all times. And they really have no intention of sailing - they didn't even have the sails on board. So that was a disappointment - I think that should be clear up front. Or better yet, they should set aside at least one afternoon of sailing.

Also, there is no internet available.

If you bike and haven't seen the Amalfi Coast - I would highly recommend this as a unique way to see the region.
