Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux
Arrival in Bordeaux. Check into your hotel located in the historical city center. The hotel will give you a tour package with instructions and the essentials to have a successful tour (road-book, maps, tourist information).
Day 2: Bordeaux discovery and transfer from Bordeaux to Isle-Saint-Georges
You will have the all day for the discovery of Bordeaux, the city on the banks of Garonne river, listed a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will delight in discovering this remarkable area. Enjoy the walk alongside the banks of the river, discover the "water mirror," relax in a park, climb the 229 steps of the Pey-Berland tower and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the old Bordeaux. Late in the afternoon, a taxi will take you to Isle Saint Georges. You will receive your rented bicycles at the charming bed and breakfast.
Day 3: Isle-Saint-Georges – Barsac (19 miles/30 km)
You will start your cycling tour by leaving Martillac in the direction of La Brède; do not forget to visit the château where Montesquieu was born. Then you will cross the vineyard of Graves through the villages of Saint Morillon and Saint Michel de Rieufret. You will arrive in Barsac, the city situated between the area of white wine production of Graves and sweet wines of Sauternes.
Day 4: Barsac – Bazas (20 miles/32 km)
This day is on Sauternes discovery, you will cross some of the most prestigious vineyards of Châteaux d’Yquem, Suduiraut, Guiraud. You will also see on your way the Château de Roquetaillade, a castle from the middle ages. On your arrival in Bazas, do not forget to visit the cathedral dating from the 13th to the 16th centuries, now part of Unesco's heritage sights.
DAY 5: Bazas – Salles/Le Barp (37 miles/60 km)
You will leave Bazas and join the cycling track that will lead you to Arcachon Baye. On the way you will have the possibility to have a rest at the lake of Hostens, a nice natural place in the middle of the forest, in Natural Parc of Landes de Gascogne. You will stop in Salles for the night.
Day 6: Salles/Le Barp – Arcachon (19 miles/30km)
After the breakfast, you will head for Bassin d’Arcachon on the cycling track. From Salles to Mios you will be following the Eyre river, as it flows north into the Bassin d'Arcachon. You will see the Le Teich ornithological park, natural reserve of wild birds.
Day 7: Loop around Bassin d’Arcachon (37 miles/60 km)
From Arcachon, you will join Cap Ferret by boat (about a 30-minute ferry ride, departures every hour). You will cycle back to Arcachon. Today you will appreciate the charm of oyster-farming villages that make this area so famous. Do not hesitate to taste some oysters on the way.
Day 8: Departure
