This tour will take you on a journey in the heart of a tranquil and beautiful area planted with vineyards and orchards; blessed with manors and châteaux. Cycling along the Loire, Indre and Cher Rivers, spend a week discovering the splendid scenery of the Loire Valley château country!

Day 1: Arrival in Joué les Tours
Upon arrival to Tours, you will understand its place as the undisputed capital of the Loire Valley. Don't miss the chance to explore its historic quarter, with its half-timbered houses, and especially the Place Plumereau! Dinner and accommodation in 3-star chateau hotel.

Day 2: Joué les Tours - Montbazon (37 miles/59km)
Today you will enjoy a ride along the "Loire à vélo" cycling paths. They lead you to Savonnières, where you can visit the petrified grottoes, a troglodyte site that became a world of shades, lights, water and stone. You then reach Villandry famous for its beautiful French-style Renaissance gardens!
Still following the “Loire à vélo” cycling tracks, you reach the imposing towers and machicolations of the chateau de Langeais, a reminder of the Middle Ages, when medieval fortresses were designed to be impregnable! You then leave the Loire River to join the Indre River and the town of Azay-le-Rideau with its romantic château, a Renaissance marvel in a setting of water and greenery. Dinner and accommodation in 4-star chateau hotel.

Day 3: Montbazon – Chissay (26 miles/42km)
The day begins as you leave the Indre valley to reach the Cher Valley and Chenonceaux famous for its Renaissance chateau spanning the Cher river that was the scene of a famous rivalry in French history: that of Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medicis. Enjoy a walk in the heart of the Diane de Poitiers‘s garden, and then Catherine de Medicis' garden. Take a breath under the shadow of one of the huge park trees, listening to the rhythm of the river murmur. Dinner and accommodation in 3-star chateau hotel.

Day 4: Chissay - Cheverny (25 miles/40km)
You leave the Cher Valley to reach the vineyards of Touraine area via the chateau of Gué Péan and the medieval chateau of Fougère sur Bièvre, a perfect illustration of the traditional 15th century building art. A route through the countryside and vineyards passing by small châteaux before cycling towards the famous château of Cheverny. Dinner and accommodation in 4-star chateau hotel.

Day 5: Excursion to Chambord (31 miles/50km)
After a short ride to the chateau of Villesavin, you will continue through the rich Domaine de Chambord forest, where a stop is essential to visit the most famous and majestic château in the Loire Valley. In its Renaissance splendour, the Château de Chambord boasts no less than 440 rooms. Dinner and accommodation in 4-star chateau hotel.

Day 6: Cheverny - Amboise (28 miles/44km)
Following the 'pays des châteaux' cycling tracks, you cycle through nice tiny villages to the château of Chaumont-sur-Loire that proudly dominates the river. The tour continues on the 'Loire à Vélo' cycling tracks before arriving at the charming town of Amboise with its royal château, where the greatest kings of France lived. Dinner and accommodation in 4-star chateau hotel.

Day 7: Amboise - Joué les Tours (30 miles/49km)
Crossing the vineyards of Montlouis, you will discover the numerous Caves producing the famous sweet white sparkling wine. Continue in direction of Gabrielle d’Estrée manor house who was King Henri IV's favorite mistress. The Chateau de La Bourdaisière will charm you with its astonishing owner 'the prince gardener' who will enjoy guiding you trough its amazing tomatoes conservatory and medicinal plants. Finish this stage by reaching the city of Tours. Dinner and accommodation in 3-star chateau hotel.

The bikes are 21-speed men's and ladies' bikes. Electrically assisted bikes also available (limited supply of 8).
The bikes are equipped with two saddlebags, a high visibility jacket, an anti-theft device, a mapholder, a helmet, a counter and a repair kit. A cycling specialist will help you adjust your bike upon arrival.
This tour traverses along the Loire a Velo bicycle path and through vineyards. It is mostly flat terrain.
