Burgundy is a fabulous region for a cycling tour: quiet roads, nice accommodation, many vineyards and domains to sample wine and great gastronomy.
On this cycle holiday you will ride through some lovely typical French towns such as Pouilly Fuisse, Saint-Veran, Givry, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard and many more. You will also benefit from the peace of the cycle track, the "Green Way" and you will appreciate the natural beauty of this area.

Day 1: Arrival in Macon
Arrival in Macon, a lovely town alongside the Saone River. At your hotel you will have a welcome meeting and explanation of the cycling tour.
Overnight in Macon.
Day 2: Macon – Cluny (16 miles/28 km)
After breakfast, you will join the “Voie Verte”, a special cycle way in Burgundy that runs from Mâcon to Beaune. Today you will discover the Solutré and Vergisson Rocks, which are located in the Mâcon Vineyards of the Mâcon-Villages, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé. Your route will then continue onwards through Berzé le Chatel and onto Cluny with its Benedectine Abbey.

Day 3: Cluny - Cormatin (9 miles/15 km)
After breakfast, you will cycle on the “Green Way” in order to reach and discover Cormatin and its marvellous castle from Louis XIII, a period which is unique in France.

Day 4: Cormatin – Givry (19 miles/30 km)
After breakfast, you will join the “Green Way” again. You will appreciate the lovely roman architecture in Malay, Saint Gengoux le National, Buxy and Givry.
Overnight in Givry.
Day 5: Givry – Chassey le Camp (14 miles/25 km)
After breakfast, you will join through small countryside routes another cycling track alongside the "Canal du Centre" to reach Chagny, Santenay.
Overnight in Chassey le Camp.
Day 6: Chassey le Camp - Beaune (14 miles/25 km)
The cycling continues through the vineyards by Santenay, then the Grands Crus (Bouzeron and Montrachet and Batard Montrachet), and Volnay, Pommard in order to arrive in Beaune. Once you are in Beaune you must visit the famous Hotel-Dieu and the medieval city.

Helmets are included with bike rental (please reserve at time of booking). We recommend, for safety and hygiene reasons, that you bring your own bicycle helmet. Please let us know if you will be bringing your own helmet.
The route from Charnay Le Macon to Givry is on a dedicated bike path. It is an easy, flat, paved surface. Then from Givry to Beaune the route is on the small country side roads that are fairly flat.
This tour is great for cyclists in average physical condition.
